Tesla Model X

This one is really interesting.

A 'utility' premise with:
4WD
'Falcon' wing doors
3 rows of seats - sitting up to 7 adults
0-60mph in <5 seconds

What's not to like?

Completely pointless waste of space and resources. There is absolutely no point in having a rapid 7 seater. The 6 passengers will all be sick and, on the rare occasions you are on your own, it will be too heavy and unwieldy to be any fun. Given that it looks about 48 feet tall, and will weigh about 13 tons, and a lot of the weight is really high up, the moose test might be interesting.

The batteries will be in the floor so it shouldn't handle too badly. My boy would disagree with you about fast family cars (faster dada, faster). I guess it's primarily designed for the US market and the thought of soccer mums doing 0 - 60 in five seconds is a bit scary. Still not cool though.

Finally, a car of the future that looks like something we were promised in the 70s.

Perhaps because it looks like that hideous Peugeot in your signature but with the smiley grille flipped upside down.

A performance electric car isn't automatically an uncool idea, but the correct answer for this car (and the winning vote right now) is 'seriously uncool'. This has a lot to do with the kind of hardcore Californians who'd buy a white electric 4WD iPad-MPV crossover with gullwing doors.

My neighbour has a Tesla S and two Sundays running he's had to put an extension cable through the letterbox and a box under the bumper to support it and allow him to plug his £75000 car into the mains !
To make it supercool he has to put duck tape over the lead on the pavement so nobody trips on it.

Yep.

I suppose if those doors swing up more or less directly, as opposed to out, then I can see them being useful in these ever-narrower parking spaces and giving you half a chance of getting in and out but it's not remotely cool as a car.

However, they look like they'd scribe a wide arc outwards bashing against anything in a typical car park and incurring even more hatred from fellow motorists.

Looks good from yesterdays unveil.

Some real innovative design thinking going on there.

I'd rather drive this that a VW TDi.

They're falcon doors . Falcon stupid doors.
Otherwise like a reproportioned version of the long, low, wide existing Tesla parked outside my house . But this looks Tall, narrow and shortish.

Seriously uncool, of course: disproportionate thus ugly as sin; unable to take care of itself for more than 200-some miles, then have to spend hours on an electricity drip.

No thank you Ma'am.

Uncool but...The London Tesla dealer was showing a Tesla S in Bury St Edmunds earlier this week and I quite like it. The performance (they say) is in the supercar league. No running costs (to speak of) and no servicing costs (there's nothing to do apart from check tyres and brakes) and with 100% right off against tax in the first year (Annual Investment Allowance), as a Company Car (buy or lease), I would say it's quite 'cool'.

I just love the idea of someone getting out from the third or 'just' second row of seats in the strong wind with some heavy rain...

they don't have it in California, do they?
