I think the A110's cool, but this is the slower predecessor that wishes it had the rally pedigree. Worse, your photo is actually a Brazilian-made Willys Interlagos. "INTERLAGOS" is written on the duckbill instead of "ALPINE".
"I drive a Willys!"
"What, one of those jeeps?"
"No, a 900cc sports car from Brazil."
"That sounds like rubbish!"
"Hardly - it was designed in France."
Even worse, production numbers were low enough that the A108 almost qualifies for my rule that any unobtainable, undriveable museum piece gets demoted by one Cool Wall category.
The coupe version has its good angles, but I'm gonna have to go with Bigfoot!

I must be getting more wrong since I appeared on Ben's sig! Spot on.

The top pic is shaded with a click through message but looks like the very cool A110 rally version.

A108 doesn't cut it for looks or pedigree. Uncool. Always reminds me of a squashed Renault Dauphine.

I believe rule 1 of keithyboy's rules of the cool wall was that if it's from the 60s it'll have try very hard not to be cool. It's pretty in a quirky Liv Tyler sort of way, probably rubbish to drive, but who cares? Cool I think.

Yeah but everyone who knows cars will just think " shame it's not an A110 Gp VI" which is seriously cool and makes this just a bit second class.

But I could look at an A110 and think "I wish it was a Camaro ZL1, or an Oldsmobile 442, or an RS200, or an F40, or maybe a Quattro sport". I wouldn't, I'd look at it and think that's a nice old thing, why isn't the owner caning the borrocks off it?

Counsel for the defence is barking up the wrong tree. That's more a case of wanting a totally different make and model. Objection over-ruled.

Maybe and nice as it may be it isn't cool at least in part because of what I said. It isn't that desirable of its type. It doesn't mean it is horrible or worthless.

Is Boxster syndrome peculiar to porsche owners and those who aspire to Porsche ownership or do, for instance, Austin A35 owners go through life feeling slightly disappointed because they haven't got a Morris Oxford?

My learned colleague is obfuscating m'lud. Gaz's point was a good example of why one car in a range may not be cool to the cognescenti while still being a perfectly acceptable vehicle. People buy uncool cars all the time for a variety of reasons, cost, availability etc. People buy cars they like which aren't necessarily cool but don't always want to change up. People buy cool cars and may well want something else.

I spent 20 years developing and defending policy for a Government department. I can't not obfuscate.
