BMW i8

Possibly the future of motoring, a baby version of the new hybrid supercars from Porsche, McLaren and Ferrari. Powered by a piddly 1.5 3 cylinder turbo engine and an electric motor it gives a combined power output of 357bhp and is claimed to return over 100mpg. Electric only range is around 25 miles

But, even at over 100,000, is it cool?

I think this is more of a glimpe of the future than the Porschem Macca or Fezza, I just wish it looked a bit more normal. Those of us who are old, tallish, and carrying a bit of timber will put our backs out getting in the bloody thing and be stuck there until the fire brigade arrive to release us. And 100,000 seems a lot to pay for a measly 357BHP.

Uncool (just).

I think it's a bit cool. It shouldn't be because it's new and supercar(ish) but because it has ECO properties I think it will be seen as cool.

And if I'm honest I quite like it.

What is it with Gaz and Hybrid heaps

On the advert if there not an engine note that is a bit like a Veyron? On a par with the M series having an engine recording played through the sound system. Utter cods!

It's cool. I can't explain it.

Maybe because "normal" modern sports/supercars are all a bit knobbish and this looks pretty good, and has that future/eco vibe well nailed down without looking hair-shirt or butt-ugly?

T'is the thing with these. Is it what we perceive it to be or what we actually think?
For example I don't much like VW Beetle's, I have zero interest in looking or driving them, they do nothing for me, zilch don't care, but I know they are [perceived] cool so therefore they are.

Ferrari 458, I'd love one, A Gallardo too, to me they look fabulous and I'd love either. So in a way for me they are cool, however I doubt they're perceived (by many) as cool so therefore they're not.

All the French tat on here I hate, apart from Alpine and oddly the RCZ. I, as with the Beetle have no interest in at all but many are I'm sure 'cool'.

So when I vote cool or uncool it is what I perceive (the masses) to think. Am I doing it right?

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

I've done the definition thing to death in the past! Not again. I will say that too many people think it can only be cool if they "like" it which isn't right necessarily as A4E says above - either way, so in that sense you are on the right wavelength.

If you don't agree with your perception of the view of the masses, it is your duty to explain why.

But if I vote as to what the others I perceive will think then there is nothing to explain. However its quite easy.
I'm shallow and love more or less all Supercars and Alfa's. The rest are all boring and sheitey ZZZZZZ type cars especially Peugeot, Renault and Citroen.
