Lamborghini Jalpa

Named after a fighting bull and billed as being more user friendly than the Countach. Made from 1981 to 1988 and fitted with a 3.5 V8, it was a good seller for Lamborghini

Is it cool?

It was totally knobalicious up to fairly recently. It's old enough and quirky enough to just about be a cool classic now. Owners should dress carefully and avoid medallions however, or it tips back.

It's ever so slightly crap.

The door mirrors are straight from the ripspeed catalogue and fitted at a jaunty angle, the wheels don't quite fill the arches, white leather piped dark is a bit miami vice, the back bumper is clearly nicked from a Lada Niva, the front spots scream afterthought, the styling from certain angles is challenging.

This takes me to SiF's view I think. (Everything I've read about the Miura and Countach suggests they might actually be a bit crap too.)

I followed one of these down the A404 a few weeks ago - we ended up in the same garage he was in a lot worse shape than me - shame, cos it was pretty cool. But also odd, very odd...

Not keen on it to be honest, Lambo's are meant to be stylish or brash, and that isn't really either.

Most people in the street wouldn't know what it was.

Uncool.

Nah, the type of person who generally buys a Lambo wants people to see it, hear it and to know what it is.

Having said that people on here have voted some right piles of junk as cool, so I suppose it is better than some.

Seriously. That's why it's cool. It's understated today. The later models (I'm thinking Murcielago, Gallardo and newer) are lovely motors, but not cool.

This [Jalpa] is because it is not in your face.

I like it.

Can't put my finger on it, but I like it. In a Ghibli sort of way.
