Aston Martin Vantage

Not the current model, the one from 1993-2000

Big cruiser, powered by a twin supercharged 5.3 V8 producing 550bhp, or 600bhp when tweaked

What do we all think?

I've been in one flat out around the MIRA test track. The AM driver's chat as we went around the banking was memorable in itself. "If we can get to 160 as we come off the banking we should achieve maximum speed on the straight" Well we actually hit 160+ and the speedo was reading 180+ on the straight. We were assured that it was limited to 175mph. I could see the speedo because we were four up and I was in the back. When we got out i had a mark on my leg that went into a bruise from where I'd been pushed into the side of the car.
I'll never forget that day. It has to be sub zero for me.

I read the description, then looked at the photographs and downgraded my vote accordingly; from sub zero to just cool.

Philistines.

It doesn't have quite the class of the previous Vantage, but it's still an awesome car, and still sub zero.

For that matter, it passes the Top Gear test - it's a supercar, but one that a lovely lady could step out of the passenger seat of to a gala event, cossetted and unruffled.

Totally agree. It is an awesome car!
Love them.

But again, how much I like them is no indication of coolness.
And this one, I'm afraid is uncool.

The old V8 Vantage was the most sub-zero of sub-zeros. The pre-dates the unfortunate footballer associations of the modern ones but is just missing something of that car. Solidly cool though.

I voted cool, the outside is great and that V8 engine.

But just look at that dashboard, gearknob and steering wheel.

I think the vents are from a Fiesta.

The steering wheel looks like a range rover steering wheel

The steering wheel probably is a Range Rover Steering wheel. However, it is the nuclear power plant under the bonnet that interests us more.

I used to like it when i was younger... It was like a British Muscle car but now compared to almost all other Astons it just doesnt look right...

Yes it is an impressive car power wise but it really isnt cool

That was my comparison point. The old Vantage was the Top Trump card that proved that British cars could sometimes win against the Italians. Plus it looked hard as nails.

Office Chair.

I voted cool, it's a classic supercar with quirky looks.
I do prefer later Astons to this.

Always felt this generation of Aston was caught in a no man's land between the James Bond / David Brown/Victor Gauntlet era of the 60s and 70s and the Dubai/Footballer Aston of today.

That said the V600 is a brutal machine and high on curio value.

Cool though rather than the sub zero of a DB5/6 or a Prince of Wales spec V8 Vantage from the previous generation.

Similar initial thoughts here too. Just about cool as much because it's an Aston as anything but it is fair to say it's uncompromisingly hard and vaguely thuggish looks give it a certain something unusual. It's never ranked remotely near my favourite Astons but still cool-ish.

This is the point where I traditionally start to boast reminisce about the car I had for the weekend of my wedding:

Truly awesome.
