Ford Escort Mk2 RS1800

This is Fords most successful rally car ever. The RS1800 was in production from March 1975 to September 1977. All RS1800`s were produced in diamond white with the exceptions of one press car that was produced in carnival red and one road car leaving the factory in venetian red.

But is it cool?

Nope.

It's brilliant on many many levels but it isn't cool.

I'm editing slightly to say that the head rests are cool. Fishnet Recaro headrests still give me the horn.

Subzero for me.

Iconic car that is still competetive in rallys today.

Uncool, it was fast and a classic, but, looks wise it hadn't a patch on it's predecessor.

Sad Ford fact for the day - it was less aerodynamic than the MK1 too.

I'm undecided. Not being much of a Ford man I'm conscious of possible prejudice.

It is absolutely, without doubt one of the most iconic rally cars of all time. That has to be a bit cool. But Escorts were everywhere, and they still are in classic rallying - which is a bit uncool. And it's a Ford, of course. It's stylistically challenged. No surprise the boxy shape is less aerodynamic than a MkI.

Still, it is a bit of a working class hero and you know you can have fun in one.

......hmmmm,.........

Just about sneaks into cool.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

The car itself is "uncool" - lacking the character of the Mk1.

Its competition success is definitely sub-zero!

Sub zero

Rally pedigree, clean 1970's shape and no pretensions - love it.

That'd be an RS2000 with a pinto engine rather than the more exotic BDA off this.....oh dear, I've been too friendly with kb.
