Lamborghini 400GT

The Lamborghini 400GT is an extremely rare car, with bodywork from Carrozzeria Touring and the usual massive v12 from the Lambo tractor factory

But the question is: is it cool?

Alas 'tis neither uncool nor cool. It is iconic, an important car in supercar evolution, but it is a bit "Meh" to look at. If I had shed loads of cash I wouldn't buy one, but I would not turn my nose up at it. A real paradox.

How many people does an icon have to be an icon for for it to be iconic?

Perhaps it's iconic just for the two of us

I don't know about iconic, it's far too rare and widely unknown for that. This isn't perhaps the best picture, check out the pics I put up in the car porn thread a few weeks ago for nicer shots and just vote cool.

I think rule 1 (or maybe 2) was that if it's from the 60s it'll have to try really hard to not be cool. It's interesting looking, it's a GT car not some silly mid-engined thing, and the little chrome details are exquisite.

That is a cool car.

You should search out a few more pics Biggie. It isn't classically beautiful, agreed, but there is an elegance and understated style there. Like kb, I think these older GTs in the grand tradition just ooze cool.

Will have a look but I think Aston, Maserati and even Ferrari have produced better looking GTs in those years.

Sure they did.

But it's not a fashion show and it isn't an automotive version of "Highlander"

This is the kind of car that old people own and trailer to concourses, only for onlookers to wonder whether it's some sort of grand touring bugeye Sprite.
Uncool (just, cos it's an old RWD V12 Italian car after all)

Does a car have to be good looking to be termed cool? I'm not so sure, the Stratos is an oddly proportioned thing that's apparently not that great to drive - indeed it's supposed to be lethal in the wet. And yet most people probably would say it's cool.

The 400GT may not be conventionally but It's rare, exotic and beautifully detailed. For me it's sub zero all the way.

I think it's extremely cool.
Pretty: not really, but under some angles it is very appealing.
It's a supercar and is not brash about it.

Just imagine picking up the Mrs. in that to take her for a picnic by the lake.
Super cool.
