I'd have one, which makes it uncool.

Pricey, flash super cars aren't cool. The Vanquish is probably trounced in objectively conducted road tests against other super cars and semi exotics but somehow......an Aston is cool. It just is.

A gentleman's sporting carriage. Smooth, stylish and usually understated. The latest evolutions on a well worn theme may just be leaning dangerously towards flash git territory but for now the sub zero image is safe.

If I'm honest, I'm not crazy about the styling. The back look to high, a bit like an early XKF, and it's got a (very) big gay diffuser. It's more fussy than previous Astons as a result. Bits of the interior also look like snakeskin. It's not quite in the same league as a Conti GT in terms of the ****s that buy them but it's heading that way.

Having said that, I think I have to agree with Jim's conclusions.

Every time we drive past that palatial establishment at Newport Pagnell, I dream of one day putting my deposit down prior to placing a firm order.

I've said this before but you have to get close to cars like this to appreciate what they are. Pictures do not tell the whole story.
As for the type of people that buy them, well if they have sufficient money they are seldom the shy and retiring type that shop in Debenhams and M & S.

So what's your verdict on whether the car is cool or not?

EDIT: I can see it's sub zero from the votes - was being lazy.

Yep, I vote sub zero for all Astons. But then I'm biased. My youngest son works at Gaydon and I've been on two factory open days where you can get up close, sit in the cars and see the work that goes into them.

Well, maybe not sub zero but I seem to remember voting cool in the poll on it. The workmanship inside those things was still pure Aston Martin.

From what I see in the pictures, it doesn't have a diffuser.

I think you're letting you affiliation affect your judgement in that case. We could have an interesting discussion about the Cygnet but the quality of workmanship - even if it was more than the posh re-trim and rebadging exercise we all know it was - has nowt to do with it being cool or not.

Oh dear, I just checked back, I did vote it sub zero. At least I'm consistent

Apparently, its not a diffuser ( I just asked ). It's just for styling, they call it a rear valance. Only the One-77 had a working diffuser.

It's got some sort of fussy black "thing" on the back bumper incorporating, exhaust tips, mesh and reflectors. The look crap on Corsas and have no place on proper cars.

Uncool,

not so much so the car itself, but it's another DB7/DB9/DBS/Vantage/Virage/Rapide lookalike, and that's Aston Martin unworthy IMHO. (and the fact that it's carbon fibre and still heavy doesn't help as well)

Good thing though Aston Martin are finally back on the red rear lights, because the "Lexus" (or "Lexi") rear lights would've made it seriously uncool.
