Of course, it's flawed. Not terribly reliable. Can't hold a candle to an M3, Scooby or Evo.

But look at it, listen to the V6. See a clean, loved example. Watch how other people react to them. It is deeply into cool territory now and is only going to get cooler and more collectible in the future. Mark my words.

Loved them since I saw the Vivace prototype in Car magazine - mebbes 86 or 87. hinted at what was to come.

Only OK to drive, questionable styling and an interior that hasn't born its years well so far.

Sort of cool when launched but not any more or ever again.

You can drive around on a nice day and see people looking at it. People ask about it when you are parked. One of our nieghbours who I barely know came over to me and said "that's the best sounding car I've ever heard", then walked away again. Eastern Europeans in car washes drool over it and ask to see the engine, take it to an all makes car show and people photograph it, none car enthusiasts think they are worth a fortune.....
There's a chance, just a chance it might be sub zero. If not it's the nearest I'll ever get to owning anything near.

I know

There arent many Spiders and GTV's here and especially well looked after ones. My car is very clean and looked after. I dont use it as a daily driver. Every time i take it out of the garage everyone keeps looking at it. I see my neighbours admiring my car too. I remember once when i had gone down town to a cafe and parked the Spider with the top down in front of me, and behind me there was a new Mercedes CLK and in front a BMW Z4. There was a tourist walking down the street and he stopped to take pictures of my car.

I struggled with this. I have always thought them cool even when new, but crikey I bought one. I put cool in the end because both me and Gaz have ruined the super cool image

They are definitely cool.

After having a couple I don't think I would want another though, to me they look better than they drive.

I think that is precise and to the point. I love the way even my TS sounds. Roof down pleasure, but they don't drive as good as they look.
I do love mine to bits though and can't see me being without one.

Top down and the sound of the engine makes it cool straight away

Oops! Sorry Malc! Absolutely not personal I promise you. Talk about testing a friendship eh? That was more a response to Gaz's superfluous suggestion about his ownership conferring a deep chill factor.

P-L-EEEE-A-S-E! It doesn't; and anyone who has to claim it can't possibly be it either!

No question the GTV's cool. Owned one of these for 8 years and is the best car I've owned (and that includes Porsches, an Audi, a Jag amongst many others).
It felt like a go kart and had a beautiful rasp to the exhaust. Strangers often came over to ask about it even when it was 11 years old and only worth a couple of grand!
Is there anyone out there better than Pininfarina for styling cars?
I'm still wondering whether I did the right thing by selling it to buy a latest shape Spider instead. The Spider feels like a tank in comparison, only slower!

I am not making this up now. I just came home 10 minutes ago and on my way back i was waiting on the traffic lights to go green and another car passed me slowly on the right lane, dropped his window down and took his head out like dogs do and started staring at my car
