Too many of them left restored to within an inch of their lives to be considered sub zero. I just about give them cool but those cheesey American ones in the pics are seriously uncool.

Top motors and very cool but not sub-zero.

I'd drive one.

Not as cool as a Stag

More reliable than a Stag, owned by quite a few ladies in the past around The Canons Park Area of Edgware?

It's probably my favourite English roadster but I fear you may be right.

If you're using it around town instead of something boring it's cool. If you're walloping down a country lane in the sunshine with the top down, enjoying the sound of the engine, with the wind in your hair, it's cool. If you're parked in a concours field arguing with the judge who says you've used the wrong screws on the glovebox lid, it's uncool.

Can't say I think of it as tiny though.

That's the problem with them for me. Only bought out for shows and then there will be twenty of them in line. If ever one car represented why the British car industry died it's the Triumph Stag. Good point ...it looked nice, bad points..... everything else, especially its burbling engine. It should have had the same engine as the TR6 or the Rover V8 not the piece of junk it ended up with.

The fact that internal competition was avoided at BL sounds like the issue. The Stag would have got some development if they were not in with Jaguar , from what I have read.

But they only used a single timing chain on the early models, whereas Jags of that period used duplex iirc? Unreliable Stags were never a serious challenger against the 'E' Type.

I saw a bit of the Wheelers dealers TR6 episode last night. Didn't see Ed in the drivers seat, he did his bit to camera from the passenger side and on the the road test they were touching shoulders. Very cosy in there, just not minute like a Spitfire or Midget.

So Gary, then go and buy a 2+2 Coupe for the kids, or a Mk. 10 ?
