Feller down the road from me has a cyclops. I suppose it's nice in its way - but the P5 has gangster qualities.

Mark two Jags and P5's were favourites with the bosses around Beds, Herts and N'hants in the '60's. The dealer I was then employed by did RR & Bentley, Jaguar and Rover, and Vauxhall Bedford.

Any Bedfordshire clangers here who remember that garage? Pretty cose to te Ouse?

Not all of them had V8s. The ones ZF is remembering best had no new fangled V8 stuff up front. The original P5 had a straight six as he described. The V8s came out in '67.
Values of certain classics have taken a hammering lately. Less than perfect P5/P5B Rovers are one of them. You do see a fair few of them at shows so the amount of choice must be a factor.

They are very cool in the classic car world, not quite sub zero though.

Definitely wouldn't want one but they are cool. I think it is that chopped looking roofline being slightly at odds with the staid Rover image.

Driven by Richard Burton in a gangster film that I can't remember the name of = cool. It's more like a Jag than a Rover, definite hints of gangster

Cool

Four door, four seat raked roofline P5 Coupe almost 50 years ahead of its time vs the various CLS, Gran Tourismo, CC cars etc of today.

A gangster's motor of choice and also the car which carried Mrs T into power on her first day in Downing Street - insert your own jokes here......

You're thinking of 'Villian' kb. It also starred in 'The Man Who Haunted Himself' with a Lamborghini Islero, oh and some jobbing actor called Roger Moore. I've always liked them, a classic British saloon.

It does looked 'chopped'. I think as a kid browsing Custom Car and Street Machine I saw these and thought they looked 'chopped' but probably weren't.

Nobody here then from Beds. remembers that garage close to the Ouse? Close to the swimming pool, and the police sports and training ground?

A thrilling period was that for me in my mid-twenties servicing, road testing, and delivering to customers quality machines that were owned by the well to do.

Imagine just how interesting that agency was with RR, Bentley, Jaguar, Rover, Vauxhall-Bedford, (the police had MkII Jags and PC 3.0 litre's ) all of which were serviced repaired and tested prior to delivery back to the customers.

Later on as most on here will recall, I had a selection myself, but never quite ran to a Rolla' or a Bentley, and I favoured Jags of that era to Rovers.
