Porsche 911 Carrera S (991)

Built on an entirely new platform, only the third since the original. Is it cool?

Well, the Carrera S has a 3.8 liter engine that produces 400 bhp.

911s are uncool. Always have been. Amazing cars and i have a lot of respect for them but they can never be cool, unless its a black GT2 and its parked on my drive. Then its cool

Very early 911s are cool because they are children of the 60s. As soon as they move to impact bumpers, they got hotter.

Great car, but as cool as any modern Ferrari......not very!!!

If it was a Maserati...............

To quote a colleague at work last week when a Grand Turismo drop top pulled onto the forecourt (the nice man let a few of us sit in and start her up) "That shows a real mans pedigree, Ferraris are for footballers!"

Yes but Ferraris always have that something special... I saw a R8 Spider today... Good car but thats all. It doesnt have that different special thing Ferraris have... Its that fizz you get as James May says

As others have said, the 911 might be a very good car these days but it's not cool.

After a long while in the warm climes of the seriously uncool, I think the 911 is starting to cool down a bit. The fact that they are sticking to their guns (aesthetically and layout) is cold. A company that has no truck with opinion polls and other consumer groups is good in my opinion. And, it is regaining a certain simple elegance.

Definitley cooler than any modern footballer's charabanc Ferrari. (the Italia does look nice mind).

Very very nice cars but not cool.

I was lucky enough to be at the Porsche Centre at Silverstone for the F1 last week where they had various cars out for people to clamber all over. A decent spec new 911 C4s costs over £90K !!!!!

I don't know why but for some reason in my head 911s, other than the loony Turbo, have always felt like £50-60K cars.

The rear end sculpture is fantastic these cars were an oasis of professionalism at the Geneva show and the fact that Aston responded with £9000 price cut for their equivalent shows it must be good. Car suggested the steering is not quite as real as the old 911 but never mind .

The only cool Porsches are older ones. They get cooler as they age. This just isn't old enough yet.

Brilliant cars in most respects, just not cool.
