The most refined Cayman. Is it cool?

Probably a very capable car but so uncool

There is nothing wrong with a Boxster so why would you want one with a roof? If you want a Porsche coupe, buy a 911. If you cant afford one then buy second hand or work harder. All you're saying about yourself if you buy one of these is 'my life hasnt quite worked out as well as i had hoped but im not confident enough in myself to buy a convertible'

My neighbour has one, in blue with silver bits (seems to have swapped his Boxster Spyder for it) - in the flesh I think it's actually quite a bit less cool than the S. I don't mind the graphics but the constrasting colour fixed wing looks a bit silly. It's all a little bit much, seems like it's trying too hard.

Are you saying those of us with GTVs are unfulfilled wannabe Spider owners? :-p

I never thought of that

I just dont see the point of this car other than for Porsche to make money because its a very common car. They could have easily engineered the Boxster to have a folding metal roof but came up with an entirely pointless new model

There hasn't been a cool Porsche in over 30 years. This doesn't buck the trend.

Not so sure mate, rumour has it that the Boxster/Cayman had to be toned down a bit as not to exceed the 911. I don't agree with the adage that you bought it because you can't afford a 911 either.
I might buy an old Alfa Spider because I can't afford a new one..... er maybe

I don't though, see someone in one of these and think "Wannabe 911 owner". The Cayman is far cooler (though still not cool) than the gay hairdresser, girly, turd shunting, anchor in poo bay Boxster. Anyone who buys open top cars is more than a bit in touch with their feminine side....

Now (in a gruff manly voice) where is that GTV?

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

My understanding is that it's basically a 911 chassis with the engine pivoted around to the other side of the gearbox. So it stands to reason that it should outperform a 911 if given equivalent engines, drivetrain etc. - although Porsche have made it work very well, I don't think anyone would argue that the 911's engine is in the optimal place

Yep, although for me it is plain cool. 911 look bloated and just meh nowadays.

Gotta say there is one down the road from me and it is really, really nice. A lot less of the bloated look of the 911 and more focus. Like a Porsche Elise - a bit.
