This needs an new colder than sub zero category. Along with the 8C, the only car in recent years which I think is utterly drop dead gorgeous and desirable.

Impossibly frigid.

I don't think that colour is particularly good but we're voting for the car. It isn't the fastest, dearest or best handling but it is just sooooo cool. The fact that it is fairly cheap by comparison to a lot of competition just adds icing to the cake because we all just ache with that oh-so-near desire to own one "maybe in a couple of years I could afford one" kind of way.

Heard the 4.7l V8 in the GT-S the other day.

The standard 4.2 sounds bloody brilliant but when this thing fired up, a family friend gave me this incredulous, sideways "Holy F....." glance.

Priceless moment.

It oozes cool. It's cool in the same way as stuff like the Citroen SM because, if we're honest, there's nothing else like it.

I like this car so much that I looked for more images, here's some, they are from different versions of the Quattroporte.

The black one that was on Top Gear a few months ago (tested against the Panamera and Rapide), black with dark multispokes and dark windows is the best ive seen one looking. And the noise.......easily sounded better than the other 2.

Infact, is there a cooler car currently on sale? Cant think of one off the top of my head TBH.

I voted uncool, for the same reason i voted uncool for this cars rivals.

Luxury barges that you need a mortgage to buy and run are not cool. Doubly so if they look like a basking shark. (sorry, my standard rant at Masarati's looks there)

I would have thought the basking shark look alone pushed it into cool.

I guess I don't see it as a luxury barge, more an M16 with a suit.

Never 'got' Masaratis. Ferrari I understand the desire, but Masarati? Never bought into it.

Fair enough! My mate drove a Bi-turbo years ago and said it felt like it was trying to kill him. That and the 80's wedginess sold it for me I guess. (Mrs Pat hates my love of motors drawn with a ruler - especially when I keep going "Oooohh, look at that 155!" )

There's only one car in the whole known universe better looking than An Alfa 159 and the Quattroporte is the one - IMHO of course

They do say "a Maserati is the thinking man's Ferrari" Sorry HST I'm sure that means you are the exception to prove the rule (whatever the hell that saying is supposed to mean) as I know you are a serious thinker.

I did say thinker.
