KTM X-Bow

A sports car made by an Austrian motorcycle company. Made with the idea of it being very light and agile, it has almost none of the usual comfort features we're used to in more regular cars, not even doors or a windscreen. Neither does it have electronic aids, so the experience of driving a car can be as unadultered as possible.

Engine: Audi FSI I4
Displacement: 1,998 cc
Aspiration: Turbocharged
Power: 237 bhp (176.7 kW) @ 5,500 rpm
Torque: 229 lb·ft @ 2,000 rpm
Configuration: Mid-engined, rear-wheel drive
Weight: 700 kilo (1,543 lbs)
0 - 60 mph: 3.9 seconds
Top speed: 137 mph (220.43 km/h)

I'm not sure that I agree about the Atom being cool but I would give my left nut for one. The Atom is a car at its most pure with absolutely nothing that isn't necessary. It isn't pretty but it is very functional.

That just looks stupid and I'd feel a right **** driving it.

The driving experience is probably amazingly cool, but you would feel like a proper t*t driving it on public roads. However, knowing KTM bikes it'll be extremely good out of the crate.

The other stupid thing about it is the name. Is it an Ex-Bow or a Crossbow?

Stunning performance, and they put on a great show when I saw them at the Race of Champions.

But they belong on the track, not dawdling down to the supermarket.

Uncool.

Hideously ugly and outdone in the track & road department by so many other trackday specials as to be rendered pointless and unloved - as evidenced by the unsold models and stories of impending closure of that part of the company.

Seriously uncool.

I'm sure this, and the atom, are fantastic to drive. But all cars of this ilk are massively uncool, anywhere but a racing circuit or hill-climb course.

To be fair, I'd love one for weekend blasts. I'd be wearing a full face helmet at all times, though!

This provided the platform for the 4C concept Ant.

Doesn't make it cool though.

Not according to this article. They did use similar techniques though.

The article is in German, BTW.
