BMW Isetta

Today we have one bubble car. Well, that is if you can call it a car. It's the Isetta, and BMW re-engineered it from the Iso design. Enjoy!

You may also recognize it if you ever followed Steve Urkel's stories.

Displacement: 298 cc
Power: 13 bhp @ 5,800 rpm
Torque: 14 lbft @ 4,200 rpm

Re: BMW Isetta

I think it is cool.

We will all be driving stuff like that again soon if all the ecomentalists get their way.

I think one of those with a big bike engine in it would be some fun.

Cool for me

They are just sooooooooo cute.

However, I would not be caught dead or even slightly injured in one

3 wheelers = totally uncool.

A mobility scooter is cooler.

Re: BMW Isetta

What surprises me is that this car (I use the term loosely) is so weird that so far nobody's has mentioned the fact that it's a BMW.

I couldn't find that figure. They probably didn't have a Mayan calendar to measure it with.

Re: BMW Isetta

Isn't this the car that, in the early versions, had no reverse gear so that if you parked nose-in too close to a wall, you were trapped forever?
This vehicle is a joke. How can the vote be so divided?

Re: BMW Isetta

Typical of BMW, a 4th wheel is an optional extra.

Uncool, but i still like it! Altho I like the Peel P50 more.

They even made a people mover version

Not cool. But, it does actually look better in the flesh, than pictures. The Arabella Grand Hotel, in Munich, has one in their lobby.

Re: BMW Isetta

You have to remember back then when these were popular, many people couldn't afford proper cars.

My dad says that you were considered posh if you had a motorbike and sidecar..

So if you think about it it has to be cool as it brought affordable "dry" motoring to a new generation of people who were less well off.

And it is certainly better than walking.

Now they are also cool for nostalgic reasons, not because they are great to drive.
