Re: Porsche 997 GT2

I appreciate the engineering that goes into Porsches (even if the basic design is wrong )

I don't like the looks or the type of people that drive them.

Seriously un-cool.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Not cool I'm afraid...very capable, yes, well engineered, no doubt reliable.
But eeking out the same look for over 40years is just lazy.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

It's cool but that's all because it is a GT2 and not a turbo with 4wd and 2wd is more fun..

Uncool car for me, undoubtedly a very capable machine though, but I usually find most Porsches to be uncool theses days

But about as cool as syphilis.

Cool for me, proper, rear engined Porker, still setting the benchmark after decades of service

Well I'd like it, and would love to have on to drive every day.

I guess that makes it uncool then

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

I'm seriously tired of 911s by now... Is there an eternal stream of "new" 911's because Porsche still haven't got it right?

It is a cool car based on its performance but I wouldn't have one.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

For me 911's stopped being cool when they introduced the turbo version in the mid 1970's pre that they are fairly cool (or in the case of the 1973 RS in white very cool)

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Technically brilliant cars and a great piece of engineering but the image has been spoilt by city yobbo wideboys swanking off about their huge bonusses.

It's a default car for people with more money than imagination and style.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Despised by many but cool in my book as you can drive it everyday, give it a good spanking and still be on the button everyday, and wont lose it's value like many other supercars.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Has it still got lead in the front bumper to help with the weight distribution?

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Brilliant cars but not cool.

I would love a 911 though, especially an older one - a '73 Carrera RS, or possibly a later 964 version of the RS in Clubsport trim. I think they get cooler as they get older.

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Prefer the lines of the GT3 RS.

Unfortunately Porsche drivers tend to fall into the bracket of trying to prove something about themselves - dont think that stereotype is ever going to change

Re: Porsche 997 GT2

Looks like a beetle, but who hasn't stared in wonder at one as it tries to escape the jaws of your cat? Tough as nails, fast on the right surfaces, and not easily intimidated go hand in hand with being a beetle. I once trod on one, all 14 stone of me at once, and it didn't blink an eyelid; it just carried on its way - allbeit a little faster than before. Of course, the Beetle is a terrible car and i hate them all with unrivaled passion, but this Porche is not a Beetle. It's a beetle. There's a big difference. But as beetles are notoriously ugly it cant make it to the sub spot, and falls just short to being cool. Still, better than being a Beetle. Aint it?
