Re: Bmw M1

If production didn't start until 1978 it must have been nearly new as well

Re: Bmw M1

Those colourful seats look bloody awful, but I think at the time of its release, the M1 was a stunning looking Car. I remember seeing one at a Motor Show at Olympia WAY back in the 80's and thinking it still looked good then, but times / styles have changed dramatically since........

Re: Bmw M1

Of course it was. Cheers Jim, having a senior moment there.

Saw a Z1 in the flesh in Austria this summer, and it was a bit ugly to be honest, looked squashed (horizontally)

Re: Bmw M1

Yes it's a mid-engined supercar from the '70s / '80s, but there's something slightly boring about it. You glance at it and go "Oooh, Lotus Esprit? DeTomaso Pantera? Rats, no, it's just a BMW. Next!" It takes skill to do that, not every car company could pull that trick off!

Re: Bmw M1

Said it before one of only three BM's I would even look at - the others are a Z1 or Z8

Cool, one of the few cool Bimmer's.
Of course then there are the BMW Art cars where a number of Race M1's had their liverie's designed by famous artist's etc .
Andy Warhol's effort below.
