Imagine someone asking you what car you have and you can reply.."a Cadillac".
It does it for me anyway.... Cool

Re: Cadillac CTS

Don't normally like Caddies but this one is
quite good.

Not cool though: Cadillacs are for old
Florida dwelling retirees or Gangstas.

Re: Cadillac CTS

i always fancied the old caddies cause of flicks etc as a kid.

like the performance figures, but it looks rather heavy, and the grill is a little silly

Re: Cadillac CTS

A bit like my first ever blind date, this. Nice interior with a smooth ride, but not much to look at. Thirsty too, and would almost certainly lose the respect of your peers when seen with it.

Me' lounge on wheels.: Yes, that'll do nicely, but I can't afford to put juice in my paraffin room heaters, so it's a no, no, sadly.

Re: Cadillac CTS

Bobbins! Uncool.

What is it with all these uncool yank cars anyway?

I can't be bothered checking but isn't something even more useless under the skin like a Saab9-3/Vectra type floorpan sharing exercise?

It is total rubbish, uncool and I have had the misfortune of seeing one up close and it isn't inspiring.

I will admit it originally looked quite smart in the Matrix film though. Not enough to make it cool like old school yank iron like Charger R/Ts and Roadrunners.

Re: Cadillac CTS

It reminds me of a Vauxhall Vectra from some angles, but with a bit more chrome.

Uncool, but I bet Boss Hogg from the Dukes of Hazzard would have liked it.

I like it. Although not true Muscle by any of my standards it's still a cool looking beefy American car, Cool in my opinion.

Re: Cadillac CTS

By numerous accounts it's quite a decent car. But jesus, I really don't think I could get past the look of something so ghastly and unapologetically American.. Surpassed only by the Escalade for sheer garishness.

Seriously, seriously uncool.

Re: Cadillac CTS

It's different from the norm, so it earns cool points for that alone.

It's also better looking than much of its European competition, so that's cool too.

It's probably a bit plasticky and cheap inside, and will fall apart inside a few thousand miles, but reliablity and build quality aren't factors on the cool wall.

So Cool it is

Re: Cadillac CTS

Cadillac is the premium brand in the USA. They are very proud of the name and what it means to them. This is the brand that patriotic Americans aspire to when they "make it". This Caddi is on the same level of thinking as the Jaguar X type in that they have to sell more cars to a wider market. I don't think GM would allow it to slide so far as to become cheap and badly built.
As with most things, they don't give a hoot what the rest of the world thinks about it anyway.(rest of the World ? what's that? )

Re: Cadillac CTS

Good

The leather though is not at all bad
The GPS system is cool especially with the popping up monitor and the touch screen controls, easy to find the nearest KFC
The exterior look is very different, so everyone will notice you
The chrome rims are standard, so bling bling is free
Smooth gearchanges are nice and seamless...
40GB hard drive is very very cool.... Don't need an ipod or zune..!!
and the best

if you UK guys get the CTS-V, that thing makes eats the M5, M3, C63, E55, E63, RS4, for breakfast... it has plenty kilowatts and stupid torque and it lapped the nurburgring in under 8 mins... so respect...

Bad

I drove the car and i think the interior plastics are tacky... very hard and cheap feeling...
The sound system in my 166 is much nicer and the bass much heavier
Engine noise is rubbish, sounds like two tins being rattled together (Northstar V6)
The shape of the dash with that Y like profile makes the space restricted if you're an upsize guy like me.. my knees kept rubbing the sides of the dash...

Jim, you're mistaken about the platform. The CTS is based on the Sigma platform, which is RWD.

The Vectra and the Saab 9-3 are based on the Epsilon platform, and that one is FWD.

Both platforms support AWD, though.

Re: Cadillac CTS

Uncool, although 304bhp is good for a 3.6l Northstar. It is naturally aspirated right?

Thanks Ant. I said I couldn't be bothered checking but thought it was shared.

What else uses Sigma? Do you know?
