Fiat 500 Abarth

For the second time this week, we have an Italian car. Again from Fiat. And this one was chosen by the randomizer.

I love this quirky little car.

Engine: 1368 cc, turbocharged I4
Power: 135 bhp @ 5,500rpm
Torque: 152 lb·ft @ 3,000rpm
Transmission: Five-speed manual
Acceleration 0-60 mph: 7.9 sec
Top speed: 127 mph

Re: Fiat 500 Abarth

Not my cup of tea.
I had a look around one and the styling looks awkward to me and a bit too much like a Nissan Micra.

Absolutely love it.
I would never be able to talk my wife into one, but would seriously consider divorce to hook up with a female that owned one.
Sub-Zero.

Hey I think the std 500 is COOL, the Arbarth is cooler, therefore sub Zero - I like Fiats, smaller the better

Cool for now, but are they getting too common?

Re: Fiat 500 Abarth

Sub zero.

I agree there is a hint of Micra about it from certain angles.

However, that nowithstanding, it is cute, quite quick, looks the part without being overtly aggressive, it's (relatively) cheap and seems well made. I also think it is pretty cross-gender and age in its appeal.

Re: Fiat 500 Abarth

It's cool, but defo not sub-zero.

In fact it's at the lower end of the cool quadrant, almost uncool, since it is a bit of a girlie/pretty boy car.

bigfoot, any ideas on chipping for base engined models to get a bit more grunt? torque in the 1.2 we have is poor and though its plenty pretty, its also plenty weak
would it be worth it do you think?...any suggestions would be most welcome....

How can that be the case, when you have to buy the V6 to get an auto transmission?

True!

I rest my case.

So I have to vote uncool, as I'm not a lass. Basically they failed to stop the 500 looking vaguely 'cute' and 'cheeky', and I think doing so would be almost impossible.

Re: Fiat 500 Abarth

Almost gave it a sub-zero, but the lack of power means it's just 'cool' for me. I'm sure 135bhp in a car like that is very impressive, but 160bhp or so would've been the icing on the cake. I'm sure this could be achievable, but I'm rating it on what it's like from the factory.

It does look good though, I don't understand people who wouldn't drive a car because it looks like a 'girls' car. They shouldn't worry too much about what people think of them.

Re: Fiat 500 Abarth

All the best looking cars ever (Ferrari 250 GTO, Lambo Muira, Jag' E-type etc.) have always been more "pretty" than "butch"...

500 is Cool, Abarth or regular flavour.
