Cool but not sub-zero.

Technological feat yes, gorgeous not. Yet, one cannot be but impressed with it.

Good to admire the engineering but it's far to ostentatious to be cool.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Cool:
A thousand horsepower, sixteen cylinders and four turbos
0-100kph in 2.5 seconds
It manages to look unique, which is a challenge for some supercars
It has a dial to show you how many horsepowers you're producing

Uncool:
Bad colour combination in the photos in this thread
Silly requirement to stop and put the key in a special lock for high speed mode
Seems to be all about its thousand horsepower, but can't you get that from a Skyline or Supra using only six cylinders and two turbos? And they don't weigh 1.88 tonnes or cost £800,000.. Veyron wouldn't be my choice of supercar. The only attitude it has is its numbers.

Can't be uncool, but isn't sub zero. Just cool.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Definitely a tricky one... an amazing car but perhaps too obvious a choice for a billionaire wanting to win top trumps. I voted cool in the end, just, since it feels harsh to say it is uncool and I love the fact that they made it. It just seems a little sterile/soulless somehow... maybe too perfect.

Very easily and surprisingly cheaply. Of course, you cant drive it anywhere once you have done it.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Cool but not sub zero.

If it wasn't basically german and didn't have Audi A6 headlights it might be cooler.

It is also utterly unsuited to UK roads and speedlimits so I can imagine it would be quite frustrating to drive. (Unless on a track)

Any motor that costs 10 million and goes like runny **** off a teflon-coated shovel can only ever be "sub-zero".

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Yes, it's a very impressive technological masterpiece, and that must be applauded.

However, as a show piece at a motor show it's great. As a car... no.

On real roads, you will never have opportunity to use all that performance. If I had the money to buy it, i'd get a nice Ferrari or a Maserati which will provide almost as much fun, definitely more so in day to day driving.
And the other advantage to driving something that's not the Bugatti? I'll be driving a thing of beauty, not something that's seriously fugly.

The sole reason to buy the Bugatti is numbers - which all comes down to the my willie is bigger than yours scenario - and for that reason I say it's uncool!

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

You're missing the point. "Cool" does not depend on good a car it is.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

But it does cost £10 million and go like a Vindaloo after a Chilli-con-Carne..

It cannot be anything except sub-zerooo.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

That has nothing to do with it.. "cool" is like "charisma".. you either has it or you didn't.

Re: Bugatti Veyron 16.4

on an engineering level is it up there with the best of them, it truly is awesome.

its looks are 'marmite' love it or hate it, no real middle ground.

for more is it no more that cool on a good day, it was primarily a project to see if it cuols be done and also give Audi/VW group kudos in being able to produce such a car.

As others have said, it is very clinical, it has no soul and so lacks that sub zero status.

I'm not saying i wouldn't have one if it was given to me, but i am not sure i would spend 800K on it though
