I am personally not sure about this one. Need to think about it a bit more and see some other pics of the car

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

I saw one of these last week at a Pistonheads meet. I was unsure about it until the guy started her up.

Welcome to the 21st century non american Muscle car.

It's cool. It also looks awesome in Red.

Definitely a cool car. I've heard one in the flesh and it sounded like the world was going to end

Still not convinced. Looks a bit too tarted up for my liking. Much prefer US muscle cars

Engine & transmission is straight out of a Corvette if I recall correctly..

I like it. Its no supercar or anything but they were only something like 25k brand new for the 5.7 V8 (the VXR is the 6.0 V8)

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

As an Aussie, I can't stand Holdens(vauxhall) as they represent pretty much every bogan thing in Australia. They're unrefined, too big, heavy, ugly, DO NOT handle at all and are just driven by [email protected] and idiots who would rather punch you in the face than anything else.

That being said, i quite like the VXR/Monaro/CV8 model. yes, its big and its heavy and there is a neanderthal in the bonnet running along the ground, Fred Flinstone style but the noise, and speed and acceleration is mind numbingly quick.

BUT....

UK got a different monaro to Australia. The suspension is better, the exhaust is slightly louder, the engine has been remapped. the VXR is a better car than the Monaro. Plus you get an option of a TWR supercharger sitting atop the 6.0ltr Neanderthal which we don't.

BUT then again i dragged a 5.7ltr Monaro in my GTA and was just as quick...

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

I like its honest brutality and anything with a V8 is guaranteed to melt any petrolhead's heart.

But it is butt ugly, it wears a Vauxhall badge and is crude. As someone said "neanderthal" with a bit of charm. You can't help but warm to it.

But it is uncool, I'm afraid.

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

Cool but not sub-zero.

It is the only cool Vauxhall for me, but it would have been cooler still had they left it badged as a Holden.

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

its cool as its a muscle car and almost too expensive for anyone to have so puts it in a cool catagory, i think the things holding it from sub zero is the interior is plain 'ol' vauxhall! and the things not making it uncool are the engine and the mean looks, competative against looks to other cars in its range!

I would LOVE to own one of those.

Sub Zero for me.

And, I could get my hands on a Pontiac GTO, which is the American version, if I had the money!

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

Just doesn't look special enough to be cool. Nothing to do with the badge.

Like the rawness though.

Re: Vauxhall Monaro VXR

It's cool in a smoking behind the bikesheds and sticking two fingers up behind teachers back kind of way.

Not particularly clever or complicated, but cool all the same
