Ferrari F12tdf

Ferrari reveals the F12tdf which pays homage to the Tour de France, the legendary endurance road race that Ferrari dominated in the 1950s and 60s, particularly with the 1956 250 GT Berlinetta which won four consecutive editions.

I love Ferrari. I love the F12. I love the styling. I love the noise it makes. I love the interior. I love how it is widely reported to have 'too much power'.

But the TdF is a car they should never have made. It's wrong on so many levels, I don't care how brilliant it is, just look at it

Nothing Italian

Not a Ferrari fan either but at least they normally look decent. There's a certain lack of coherence to this design.

So with many modern Ferarris it is uncool.

And ugly

It's almost impossible for a super/hyper car to be cool.

I'm finding myself perversely drawn to modern Ferraris. Maybe I'm being ironic. Maybe my sense of good taste is failing along with my eyesight as I get older.

You can certainly enjoy yourself honing in one of those and I'm sure my view has been informed to a large degree by the inestimable Mr Harris's hooliganry in one on You Tube.

But it's uncool. And anyone driving one still looks like a knob even if he or she is having a whale of a time.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

...which is what makes it really uncool for me.

That and the fact that tdf makes it sound like a diseasel.

You're all completely wrong it's gorgeous. What a colour. I have that (probably) very car pictured on my calendar for February that I'm looking at between the screen and this. It shows the rear and I love it.

It's far from cool though because any post 90's Ferrari or super car is unlikely to be cool with the exception of Aston Martin.

However in 10-15 years time when we all have electric autonmous cars we'll drool over these, **** I'll probably drool over a ****ty Citroen Dyane.

Or go to Geneva , as I am going to do. At least your house doesn't fill with magazines. A friend of mine was waiting for new tyres to be fitted and he ended up subscribing to a deal advertised in a copy of Evo at the tyre place. He still has several copies unopened from that years "reading".
Back to the Ferrari. You have to have the latest model every couple of years don't you?

No not necessarily, I'd be quite happy running an FF for a while longer. Even though that is now obsolete

I agree. Ferrari gears their updates to the customers cycle of replacing their cars so they can get an "upgrade" each time.

I can't believe most of what my eyes read here. Cool, at the least.
