Question New Fiat 124

I saw one of these on the road the other day. I'm not 100% sure that I don't prefer the MX-5 sister car.

Do you think this is a cool car?

Not a flattering pic of the Abarth there but it does look a bit of a student project! I much prefer the Fiat to the Mazda which looks squashed.

Seeing it on the road is what prompted me. Seemed "big".

Big , but clever?

Driving it , I couldn't believe it had a reversing camera. Seemed quite small to me...

I don't like the Mazda. Looks heavy and distorted to me whereas the Fiat looks more natural.

Loving this. Especially that front quarter view. Beats the mazda hands down.

Not a huge fan of the Fiat, or the Abarth. I'm sure they are very competent machines but they don't look all that great to me. There's a small hint of Viper about it, which to me isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that hint of Viper is the original 1994 version, so it looks dated

I think the Mazda looks better.

I don't agree about the Mazda but have the exact same Viper feeling fron the 124. Marchionne is known to have insisted on the Viper adopting some styling elements from Ferrari such as lights, so it's probably down to him again.

i saw at a show one today, albeit in gaudy Abarth trim (which was a bit m'eh).

I think, in Italia blue, it could be a nice looking car. Maybe it's a slow burn looks-wise, but it's still not grabbing me or making me swoon. Will waiting until I see a non Abarth version (Fiat's online banner ads are doing it a disservice by showing you the original 124 Spider - you're reminded just how pretty that one was)

I got an interesting follow up to the brochure mailing. A retro style "magazine" with articles including a real one from Autoexpress discussing how it differs from the Mazda. Luckily for Fiat ,it's positive about its relative maturity.

It's brand new so not likely cool at all. Looks good and I'm sure a nice drive.

I think it is more cool than the Mazda, simply because it will be rarer.

It looks better from the side, but I still think the frontal styling looks a bit Japanese.

There is a hint of Datsun 240Z about the front.
