Pillar Trim

Hi All, since getting the slightly OCD cleaning bug (first clay ever yesterday!), the black pillars on my 159 just look a bit shoddy compared to the rest of the car.

Has anyone got any good tips on getting them looking good again?

I've fallen big time for gtechniq products. Their 'permanent trim restorer' seems very good.

Previously I used Autoglym 'bumper care' which looked ok when applied but seemed to wear off quickly and could look patchy.

I did my black plastic bits and the chunk of black plastic at the back of our Slk with 'PTR' just after Christmas and was admiring how good they still look after yesterday's wash. It is supposed to last a year or so.

So, a week on after using Meguiars, and it doesnt look that good IMO. Has greyed back to how it was pretty quickly.

Bare plastic or painted?

For plastic trim i would use a product like Gtechniq T1 or similiar.
Owatrol Polytrol is probably the best for bare plastic out there on the market.
Not that fun to work with but the results you get speak for themselves.

If painted you treat them as any other painted surface, polish and wax/sealant.
