Engine bay wash tips?

Hi. Just went to Halfords today for some supplies. Bought some Autoglym High Gloss finish which I put on after the SRP. Car looks great. I also bought some Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner. I've never cleaned an engine bay before but I want to see how clean I can get my Alfa. The videos make it look straightforward but I'm a bit concerned about spraying water into my engine bay. Has anyone got any tips or warnings before I take the plunge next weekend?

Yes - don't spray any water anywhere! Use the cleaner direct on a cloth or brush it on and wipe off. Laborious but better than getting Alfa electrics wet! Spray with Aerospace 303 to shine everything up a bit to finish.

OK. Thanks for that. I was trying to figure out the best way to cover the electrics and air intake. I think I'll do what you suggest. Seems more sensible all round really!

I snow foam engine bays with the engine running. Works a treat as long as you're not a Muppet when rinsing it off.
