Help Meguairs DA Power System

Has anyone any experience with or comments on this system?

It looks good value at £89.99 for the full kit but is it false economy?

Have recently purchased a Ph 1 Spider; paintwork is generally in good condition but there are very poorly touched up stone chips on the bonnet/front valance and a badly touched up minor scratch on one door.

All comments/views gratefully received.

This is the doodah you connect to your drill to make a DA polisher..?

NEW!! Meguiars G3500 DA Power System Dual Action Polisher on eBid United Kingdom

It's cheaper here.

Anyhow.. neither a proper DA polisher or this will correct badly filled stone chips and scratches. You need to carefully smooth those down with 1200 grade wet and dry paper, then polish the flattened (matt) surrounding top coat back using a cutting agent and/or polish. If you have just a few chips.. I'd use T-cut "by hand" to put the shine back on, rather than investing in polishing equipment.

The Meguairs DA is a good machine, just be aware that you'll also need to purchase backing plates, pads and compunds before you can use it. It also won't remove or sort badly repaired stone chips.
If you're looking for a good polisher then I'd recommend a Das6 Pro+. All DA polishers are made by Kestrel and rebranded (even the Meguiars one). As for T-Cut, I personally wouldn't recommend it I'd suggest you use something like Meguiars M105 for cutting and M205 for polishing, both these compounds can be used very effectively with a DA too. For all your valeting and detailing needs.

I would slightly modify this to say Kestrel sell a lot of DA's, the Megs unit is based upon the Porter Cable and firms like Flex make their own. I have no idea about the Megs Power System, I did try a similar looking product many years ago and it was ok for working on small areas. Any plans to work on full panels would probably be a lot of work

Edit. Just reread my comments and it may look as if I am being a bit brusk, this is not my intention
