Stain in/under laquer

Hi there,
When I bought my '89 Spider last year, it had been in storage for 7 years. The previous owner pointed out a stain on the bonnet caused by a leak in the garage roof. It almost looks as though moisture has managed to get under the laquer and create a dull - but NOT milky- area. Can anybody suggest how I can sort this out, or is it a case of taking the bonnet to a paint shop?
I would also be interested to know whether a dull lacquer finish on another car can be remedied or is that too a visit to the paint shop?

Thanks,

Martin B

Sounds like there is little to lose with the bonnet by trying to polish the mark. A machine polish with a mid cutting compound might do the trick. Likewise with the dull lacquer. Take it very carefully though so as not to cut into the basecoat.
