Touch Up for Alfa Red

Got a few chips on the roof: when I look at what's available, I can buy the dealers pencil type thing or get some paint and seperate clear coat mixed up for around the same price.
The question is, is it better to go with the 2 pack approach given the original paint is the same or just should I just touch up using the colour coat?

I tend to go with just using the paint and not the laquer, whether a metallic or not. The laquer supplyed is often really thick and like treacle to apply. Often, you can apply the paint, be really happy, then apply the laquer and it just looks a mess. Carefully build up the paint in the chip, allowing time to dry between application, then, once the paint is sitting just very slightly proud of the surrounding are....leave it for several days to 'really' cure. Then, very carefully, rub VERY gently with t cut....you could mix it with a little polish to reduce the abbrasion. Carefully work the area until the repaired area is flush with the surrounding area....then apply polish to finish. This method may not work for you, but I've always touched my chips in this way.....tried and tested
