sealants

anyone used either Finish Kare 1000P or opti-seal?
can't make up my mind which one i'm going to buy.
i'm swaying towards the opti-seal as it seems a doddle to apply. how do you apply the fk1000p?

Never used either but I would go for the Fk1000p. Very highly recommended. It comes in a tin in paste form so just apply like any paste wax. The thinner it goes on , the easier it comes off. Best thing to use is a foam applicator, then just moisten it. Makes applying anything much easier and you'll get a more even coat.

cool, cheers. i'm going with a sealant as they say it suits a silver car.
mine looks real good just afer washing it and aquawax, but i want to give it something that bit extra. and the protection / longevity of sealants has made me want to part with some cash

I have both and FK1000P is a million times better. That may be a slight exageration but it gives a better "glassy" shine (as all sealents do) and lasts longer. It is harder to remove when applying it but this means it lasted 6 months and 20k miles in my own test.

Only used FK1000p, but I'm very pleased. Only advice I would give is put it thin because a little goes a long way.
The link is to a pic of the roof with 1 coat of FK1000p

You will be most impressed with the results of the FK1000. I have an Etna Black MiTo and the results were spectacular! Thats all I have to do now is wash it and the FK1000 comes back through and gives it a lovely glassy shine

Never used FK but as a general rule with wax/sealants as little as possible. You want to try and get as thin a layer on as possible. Just put the pad in the tin and give it half a turn. That should put enough on the pad to do half a panel, maybe more.

Daft question, but do you use a sealant in place of a wax? I bought Jetseal 109 for my wheels and found it next to useless. Collinite worked much better. I still have loads of the stuff left and as my car is nearly due a wax I was wondering if I should use this rather than the wax.
Sorry to hijack the thread slightly

You can but some also use both with the sealant underneath. Im surprised of your findings with 109 as its used by many on wheels and it can also be used on paintwork with great results.
