What sort of brush to use on a fabric hood?

i.e. how stiff a brush that will get the algae off but not damage the fabric?

thanks

Just use a nice soft upholstery brush, the ones shaped like a steam iron you can get from bargain shops, use plenty of soapy water to lube its action a little and it should work a treat

Make sure it's well scrubbed before you wash your paintwork because fabric roofs hide an unbelievable amount of dirt

I use APC and an upholstery brush and rinse for about 10 mins unless they're mohair, you really need a specialist cleaner for those roofs.

I got a nice pink brush to go with my marigolds

But that took about an hour to get 1/3 of it 80% clean.

The only soap I have is megs gold class shampoo and that's probably not strong enough...

The renovo canvas cleaner is looking appealing even for the price. But it appears to need a nice dry day (and a nice dry hood to start) and that isn't going to happen any time soon in this weather!

What is APC? And can I get some from Halfords? Thanks

Unlikely, Meguiars APC is part of their "Detailer" range and my Halfords don't stock it. Tesco sell "Daisy" it's 99p for 1.5L which is a bargin compared to £19 for 3.78L (US gallon) of Meguiars APC and it does the same job.

Dilute the APC at 10:1 then 4:1 if it still won't shift. Failing that use this

**edit** I haven't used this product but Autoglym hood cleaner doesn't mention anything about needing to be used on a dry hood. I also just finished reading your post where you mentioned Renvo Hood cleaner, I really must read full posts.

Thanks a lot. I'll nip to Tesco tomorrow and see if I can find it. Dilute the same ratio as you would APC yes?
