Anyone know a good Tyre Black ?

Does anyone know whats good for tyres ?

I have tried 3 Tyre Black Dressings for my tyres and most have them have been Cr#p

The first one I tried in a spray can and cost $3.00 and was a great glossy clear spray that lasted 3 days. And I thought there must be something better lasting.

So I bought 2 different Paint on black stuff. And both of them dry to a MATT Finish !!! Why on earth anyone would want a matt finish on their tyres is beyond me.

So just wondering if anyone knows anything thats good for a nice shine that lasts a long time.

Thanks
Cheers
Fred.

I would say that the Meguiars tyre gel is the best I've used. It takes a little getting used to, but it does stay on for longer than others I have used and it gives a very nice finish (depends how long you buff the tyres for, though). The bottle also lasts a long time as the gel spreads over a greater distance compared to tyre sprays.

Yes, the best product IMHO is Meguiars Endurance Gel.

The nice thing is that you can put on multiple layers and the more you put on the glossier they will get. You will need to have a dedicated foam adaptor which you use for nothing else and I always wear latex gloves as it can be messy.

I can't imagine why you would think you can't get it in Aus. Go to the Meguiars Aus website, click on products, click on tyres and there it is.

Swissvax Pneu for me (they also do a glossy version). The gloss is as shiney as the Megs one but it's less greasy so it works better in dusty conditions.

I found the Meguiars tyre gel spray and used it today - looks fine so far lets see how long it lasts. But Boy does it smell !! Whoa !

The other tyre black i used yesterday was a Kitten paint on Black. It was absolute Cr##p. After applying 2 coats it started to peel off after a drive today.

Well I've never heard of a Meguiars Gel Spray before so must be some new product only available to Aussies.

The Meguiars Endurance Gel which everyone else is referring to is a wipe on gel which comes in a bottle and is applied using a foam applicator. It is a purple colour and smells like Fanta Grape.

Cheap Meguiars Hot Shine Tyre Spray 444ml - G13815 | I Car Accessories - Compare Prices & Save shopping in Australia

This is the one. The only one I could find. I got the feeling that the gel and spray were the same but that the spray is easier to apply. Ive seen some detaling forum people dilute the gel and make it a spray anyway.

Anyway I applied it today and it looks amazingly shiny. Will be interesting to know how long it lasts.

Nope, sorry mate, they are nothing like each other.

That one is an aerosol spray and the other is a gel as previously described. The Endurace Gel is used by many professional detailers especially for it's longevity and ease of application. You can apply it to specific parts of the tyre, there is no danger of spray going on the wheels or worse still the brake disks and it is much better value for money.

You could start a tyre dressing online shop Joking aside Megs Endurance 'Gel' is a good product as is Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel which is also for the ext/int trim which is a bit of a bonus
Chemical Guys - New Look Trim Gel then another one i use is Finish Kare 108 which is a satin finish (i know you said you didnt like matt) and it sheets water like nothing else. Check out the vid on this link. Bare in mind it can also be used on all other trim and in that vid its been on 2 weeks. Its available in a £4 sample size which is handy. If you look at my tyre in the centre pic in my signature thats what they have on.
FinishKare #108 - Top Kote Tire Dressing

FinishKare - 108AS Top Kote Tire Dressing 32oz

I wouldnt mind some Swissvax Pneu myself mind.

Well its day 2 having the Meguairs gel spray on the tyres and it is really very shiny actually too shiny. I washed the car and watered the wheels to see if any of it would come off and it wont. So Ill see how it goes from now on and when it wears off. I actually prefer Too Shiny rather than dull then at least you can wipe it off if you need to.

Cool, some of the tyre products allow you to develop the level of satin towards gloss with amounts of layers.

I use Armor All tyre foam.

Spray on, walk away and job done.

It gives just the right amount of shine and the tyres look very clean afterwards.

I also spray it on the visible parts of the wheelarch liners as it does a good job there too.

Well Its been about a week now and the Megs Tyre Gel Spray is still on the tyres ! I am very impressed. Its also been raining hard for 2-3 days and I washed the car as well and the tyres still have a black sheen on them ! Id say they have lost about 20-30% of the Shinyness from when I first applied it and it but it still looks very presentable in a new satin black look.
