Unsightly Engine wiring

Is there a way of tidying up the wiring on my Alfa , it looks like a mummy thats escaped from a crypt and really lets the engine bay down , is anyone elses wiring wrapped in poor quality waterproofing ?

Admittedly I am in SA where it is impossible to find anything and you are in the land of plenty, but I tried very hard to find the kind of soft stretchy tape which they use in the factory to wind around the wiring looms. There is also a sort of "cloth" tape which they use. I just gave up eventually. It was hopeless, everybody wants to sell you cheap electrical insulation tape (for home use) which turns into a sticky mess in no time.

I ended up buying some plastic piping (its a sort of black conduit) which I used to cover some of the wires. It comes in different diameters and has a slit running down the length of it. If you like I can take some pics to show you.

Hope this helps.

How about something along these lines? Bit expensive but gives a good idea: www.regals-motorsport.co.uk/engine-dress-up/

Thanks for all your information , i will have a look at some of the colour coded style they look quite smart, i don't really want to add more tape to the tape thats already on as it looks like it was fitted by a 5 year old , why do alfa do their wiring this way its a bit old in the tooth isn't it ?

Here is the pic of the plastic "conduit" pipe whatever.

I think it gives you an idea of what it looks like.

Can't understand why Alfa have used the cloth tape. It's an out dated method of cable management with most modern cars I have seen using conduit or similar.

Out of curiosity, I bought the cloth tape from RS in the link that I posted above. It is a very close match to what Alfa use, so if you want to go for the 'original' look this stuff is spot on It is also far higher quality than the Alfa stuff.
