My favourite detailing products

I have experimented with a load of brands and products over the years, here are the things I really like using a the moment.

AG car shampoo for the wash

Cober Guzzler to dry the car after washing - well worth the money lasts for ages

Megs Hot Wheels wheel cleaner

EZ detail brush for the wheels - a bit pricy 20ish - but does the job

I have just purchased the new Auto Valet artemis wax - goes on and wipes off a treat as long as it is not too hot or in sunlight

Megs glass cleaner

Car plan tyre silk is long lasting and looks the business

I use mostly Turtle Wax products as I find they are affordable and work really well.

I use Turtle Wax wheel cleaner, glass cleaner, and wax.

I also use alot of AG gear such as polish and other bits and bobs.

I have a wheel brush my dad picked up for a few quid and it works wonders with TW wheel cleaner, really gets the job done. I then use Autoworks Tyre Shine to black up the tyres, I find it leaves quite a natural looking finish as opposed to the gel you can buy that makes tyres look 'Too Black', if that makes sense,

Here's a few examples of wheels cleaned:

First is of a Merc ML, the second a Ford Probe.

I find that alot of the Simonez gear also works pretty well, like their foaming dash cleaner and carpet cleaner.

For exterior black plastics I use either Simonez trim restorer or Auto Glym bumper care, the bumper care stuff works brilliant and doesn't smear whatsoever, the Simonez stuff is good but not on surfaces where it's likely to run, like door handles etc.

Here's a before and after of a Fiat Punto I did using Auto Glym bumper care:

im the type of person that will stay loyal to the cause, unless change is necessary, in other words, i use what ive used for yrs, except for minor changes to the products for whatever reason...

most carplan products i stay clear from - i would prefer to use washing up liquid and a wire pad then their products

~stage 1

turtlewax shampoo + half measure of turtlewax conditioning wax, and a meguires fibre wash mitt

Miracle Chamais chamais

~stage 2

meguires 'step 1' paint cleaner

or

autoglym tar remover (for more intensive marks)

to add in this stage, i will eventually be claying the alfa with meguires clay and meguires quik detailer

~stage 3

meguires 'step 2' polish

~stage 4

meguires 'step 3' wax

~stage 5

meguires quik detailer

~windows

meguires glass cleaner

~wheels and tyres

comma wheel cleaner and simoniz back to black

~interior

foam cleaner (cant remember make)

carplan dash shine (the only carplan item i will use)

a vacuum lol

all stages i use meguires microfibre clothes

If It Comes Off, Modify It!

Im at the experimenting stage.

My 1st regime was AG Body Cond Shampoo, SRP then AG Aquawax. Wheelwere done with AG Wheel Cleaner.

Then i got into detailing and bought some Megs Gold Class Shampoo and some AG HD Wax.

After going on different detailing sites and getting feedback ive got loads of different stuff now. Some stuff is a cert and i wont change it

Wheels: Valet Pro Bilberry Wheel Cleaner. Awesome stuff!

Windows: AG Fast Glass. Great as i found the AG Glass Polish makes more mess than owt else with the white dust!

MF Mitt:Tescos Finest

Shampoo:AG Body Cond Shampoo/Megs GC and ive just got Poorboys Super Slick & Suds which i'll try on Sunday. Its wax friendly which the Megs isnt.

Drying Towels:Megs Water Magnet & Cobra Guzzler which is great.

Various MF cloths from AG and Tesco.

Got the Turtlewax pack of 4 MF pads which are good.

Polishes:AG SRP and UDS. Just got Dodo Juice Lime Prime which is awesome.

Glaze:Poorboys Black Hole. Designed for dark cars and hides swirls by masking them. I'll try this on sunday. Its meant to be the nuts.

Waxes.AG HD Wax, Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub & Hard Candy 30ml Samples. Both DJ waxes smell amazing. All 3 waxes give awesome beading and are very user friendly. Just got some Pooorboys Nattys Blue Wax Paste which smells like blue bubblicious! I'll try this on Sunday.

QD Sprays:Megs QD qhich is great inbetween washes and it gets sap off the car! Just got PoorBoys QD+ and will try on sunday.

Also have DJ Red Mist but thats more of a spray sealant rather than a QD.

Interior Trim, Plastics & Tyres:Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel. This stuff is amazing! Done the 4 tyres twice, various exterior plastics and engine bay and engine cover and its hardly touched!

Ive yet to decide which is best out of the shampoo, wax and detail sprays but hopefully will come to a conclusion soon lol.

I do know i need Grit Guards and Snow Foam Lance in the regime though.
