Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

Last week I applied some AG EGP to my car. Back in February I had put on a coat of Collinite 476 (link here). I never removed the Collinite, just washed the car and then applied the AG EGP.

I was pleased with the results.....

Next job is to sort door mirror brackets. Just bought two from Auto Lusso which I'll refurb and swap over onto my car.

Cheers

Alan

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

Really nice

Had to refurbish my offside mirror bracket by sanding to metal, priming and using a spray gloss enamel. The finish looks original and a year later is still solid - well pleased.

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

I like EGP as it's nice & easy to use. Plus, if you have a relatively clean canvas to apply it to, it does the biz in terms of shine & protection.

Just top it up with Aquawax (or Express Wax in 5 ltr trade form) after each wash and she'll stay looking like that

Sure is It's a wax sealant so not a polish

Not as good as AG's new HD Wax but much easier to use

Well I use 3 different waxes now, not at the same time though

AG Ultra Deep Shine
AG Aquawax
Dodo Juice purple haze

So SRP is like a seelent for the wax then?

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

I'd have thought so Good collection there though although UDS can be used as a stand alone product EGP is usually used after SRP.

I use the Aquawax inbetween waxing with UDS or now Dodo juice PH

I do spend to much money on cleaning stuff though

SR - Might try that in the future once I run down my existing collection of products.

Thanks mate. I plan on trying a matt black finish. Hope to have them ready in a week or two.

Yes, the original finish isn't really matt, and this enamel spray paint (from Halfords I think) doesn't give a proper gloss finish but a sort of semi shiny stippled finish. Just right.

Anyway, be interesting to see how you do yours as I have the other side to do soon

i found the same thing, also the results of EGP vary depending on the colour. on my minerva green 166, UDS on its own seems to be the way forward, on my old silver mustang, SRP and EGP got the results.

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

Yeah, your probably right Phil. It worked amazing on my last 156 which was (grigio) silver metallic.

Im thinking of doing this! Clean with a shampoo, first with a trigger gun as done by S.Rosso (works a TREAT!!), rinse then wash! Let it dry, now do i:

A.Deep Shine then HD wax followed by Gloss protection or is that way way too much!
B.HD wax then Gloss protection
C. Just HD wax.

Im after a awsome shine that will last a fair while, then in between shampoo then Aqua Wax.

My choice is B then some Aqua Wax every 3/4 washes to keep the shine up.
Seems to work well on my Touring Grey which is not a shiny colour like an Alfa Red, and keeps the cr&p off so looks cleaner longer.
Andy.

UDS is a polish so definately use this first then the HD wax, otherwise you'll just be polishing the HD wax off. Wax or sealants are always the Last Stage Product.

Not A. or B. EGP is fussy what it bonds to, and it will not bond over either HD wax, or UDS. If using AG products (which I am a fan of) the best sequence of products is SRP (Super Resin Polish) then EGP, then finally HD wax. Top it up with Aqua Wax, when washing.

Exactly

UDS is meant as a standalone product. SRP + EGP or if paintwork is blemish free (new car or just clayed) EGP is fine on its' own

Don't go heavy handed on the HD (a little goes a hell of a long way) and let it cure for at least 15mins. Otherwise it can be hard to get off.
