Wax

I was just reading on the net that there are two different types of Wax, one is soft wax one is hard wax.

What is the difference between these?

Re: Wax

If I get a chance to clean the car on Friday then you might do, hoping I get to finish early on Friday so I do get to try it.

Re: Wax

Presumably you are NOT referring to Liquid Wax vs Paste Wax.

The only thing that determines how "hard" a paste wax is, is the amount of solvent contained in the formula. All paste waxes have to contain solvents as Carnauba Wax in it's natural form is as hard as a rock.

I really wouldn't concern myself with the hardness mate, but rather go for a really good quality Carnauba wax (eg. Meguiars #16, P21S, Collinite)

Ensure that the surface is well prepared - It's 80% about preparation and 20% about Wax

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Polish
4. Wax - to provide a good protection

Re: Wax

I don't spend a fortune on cleaning stuff and Turtle Wax Carnuba has done wonders on my Spidey

It's liquid that goes on dead easy and polishes off reasonably well - leaves no marks or smears

Re: Wax

I agree with springbok, you could spend s on wax but if whats underneath isn't any good!

I've just started using #16 from meguiars. Needs a bit of work to remove the residue but you can literally see and feel the difference when the wax is applied.

A lot of people recommend that Dodo juice though, so should work great for you.

Re: Wax

i use Dodo's purple velvet, it is designed for dark colours

i use this as a finish after using autoglym SRP, this gives the car a really deep shine and makes it smell really nice, like a bubblegum flavour

Re: Wax

I'm not scottish but still...

Anyway, not sure if i believe that dark colours and lighter colours need different wax. Sounds like marketing BS to me.
