Help a noob?

I've just gone from one bucket and a sponge to two buckets and a mitt as I've become more educated and now I want to give my car some TLC. I got a grey GTA SW last week and gave it it's first wash today, but next weekend I want to give it a proper clay/polish and wax. (There's quite a lot of tar on the paint)

I already have:

Megs Gold Class wash and cond.
Megs Gold Class liquid wax
...and I've just bought Megs clay kit and Megs Deep Crystal Carnuba wax (stage 3) on a whim.

Now I realise I have 2 waxes and no polish, should I take the Stage 3 back and get some Stage 2 polish instead, or keep it and get Stage 2 anyway?

So my next wash would be:
Megs gold class wash
Megs clay
Megs Stage 2 polish
Megs Gold class liquid wax

Would that work?

Re: Help a noob?

Aye!

But stick the Deep Crystal Carnuba as the last coat. I'd keep the liquid wax as an "in between" treatment when you don't have time (or don't need) to stick on another coat of the DCC.

Re: Help a noob?

DC Step 2 Polish is a great product. Highly recommended.

It really does not matter if you use DC Step 3 or GC Liquid Wax as an LSP. They are both equally good IMHO.

But don't skimp on the DC Step 2.

Think about a seal too,

but washing after the clay this will remove any dried on quick detailer and will give you a good surface to wax it, as the Megs QD is quite oily. have you clay'd before?

Re: Help a noob?

Oh BTW when you use the Step 2 polish it is not necessary to let it dry. It is a wipe on wipe off product. Apply with an applicator, one panel at a time, work it in, and remove with a clean MF cloth.

Oh yes, forgot about the second wash, this will be the first time I've touched clay. What sealant do you recommend and is it important to do?

a seal is like it says, it will seal all our hard work in, and i would say its important, its like not putting the cap back on on the top of the paint tin when your done,

What you're supposed to put the cap back on? Cheers, makes sense I guess!
