Re: door pillars

Buy this stuff
https://www.ragingspeed.co.uk/catalo...oducts_id=1407 In carbon fibre effect.
Remove the old stick backed plastic vinyl and all the goo that it leaves behind (Maplins do a good spray can that removes labels etc. for around £3.00.
Replace it with the carbon fibre sheet using a spray bottle of diluted washing up liquid on the sticky side to keep it from sticking down too quickly before positioning where you want it.
Use a credit card or plastic spatula from the kitchen draw to move any trapped air bubbles outwards (the washing up liquid you used helps a lot with this part).
trim with a craft knife making sure that you also lift the window seals to get the new vinyl under it....
Presto ...... Carbon fibre door pillars for a fraction of the price (about £22.00) of Novatech replacements which are about £80.00!!!
Sit back and have a cuppa while admiring your handy work.....
No more finger marks, no more spraying "this and that" on it to remove whit car polish marks, just a sweet looking, "tasteful" amount of carbon fibre that looks as though it came from the factory as standard!
20 minutes work and it will last about 5 years without fading or cracking!
Job done m8!

Re: door pillars

my former Golf GTi had a black surround around the rear window. That tended to 'grey out', and I used to bring back the black effect using Autoglym's bumper restorer. I used to use the residue/left overs from what I'd applied to the bumpers, and it would largely keep its colour for a good four/six weeks. That might be worth try?

Re: door pillars

There are a whole host of products that will keep that particular panel looking black and natural.

The very best IMHO is Aerospace 303 which you can also use for every other plastic part including the engine.

Whatever you do, DO NOT try and polish or wax it.

Re: door pillars

another thought is to have them removed and the pillars polished?
