Waxing disaster

Oh dear

It all went wrong today trying to polish / wax the bonnet

Firstly I had a go with the AG SRP. For some reason it seemed to dry very quickly and was a pain to buff off (ended up breathing on it to soften it)

Then it went horribly wrong when I applied a coat of meguiars nxt tech 2 wax. I covered the bonnet, gave it a few minutes and started taking it off. The powder seemed to come off but what was underneath was a smeary patchy mess. Judicious rubbing made it a little better but not by much.

In the end I had to attack it with the detail spray to clean up the mess.

Why did it go so horribly wrong

Re: Waxing disaster

i have always found Megs Nxt Wax to be a pain in the bag to use but never had an issue really with AG SRP.

Check on Ebay for a Wax called Navi-Wax. If your car is non-metallic its great and is probably the easiest wax ever to use as you just plaster all over the car, plastics, glass and all. Its a bit hit or miss whether it suits you but i have found it fantastic to use in the past.

Re: Waxing disaster

The air was damp on Friday PM & waxing the car was not easy with any of my products. Gave up after the bonnet & front wings. Aquawax is ace for these sorts of days, especially after a car has been clayed

Re: Waxing disaster

Also NXT Tech Wax has got cleaners in it so you would be better topping AG SRP with a pure carnauba IMHO

Re: Waxing disaster

OK. I will get some different wax. Will aqua wax work on an otherwise sparsly waxed car?
