Re: fimbles

I don't have a dark coloured Bella but any polish (except pure polish) contains abrasives-it's how you apply it that will determine the results although if you're doing it by hand Megs scratch-x is pretty good or (dare I say it) Autoglym's Super Resin Polish.

Re: fimbles

You have 2 options, Autoglym SRP contains fillers that will hide your swirl marks but you must apply wax/sealant afterwards to maintain the finish. The other way is to have the car machine polished to remove the swirls and then make sure your wash process is spot on, two bucket method/wash mitt and no chamois, water blades and cheap sponges.

Re: fimbles

Just a question. These swirl marks which Ao'ers seem to acquire, are they caused by Fairies doing a pirouette, skating around on your paintwork? Or is it car washes, and circular polishing strokes, both, or one or 'tother??

Re: fimbles

They're mainly caused by sponges during washing, the flat surface of the sponge just drags grit/dirt across the car - always use a mit.(and two buckets, one clean one soapy)

The majority of swirls are caused by bad washing methods - eg Not rinsing the car before you start to wash, not using the two bucket method, using a sponge instead of a wash mitt and lastly using a chamois instead of a microfibre cloth or waffle weave to dry the car.

The other main cause is car washes and so called valet shops using inferior equipment and badly trained staff to "buff" your car to a shine.
They do more damage than good.
