Touch up paint doesnt seem to stick

been trying to touch up a few chips and every time the paint doesnt stick properly. I quick scrape with my finger nail (a few days later) and the paint falls off!!!

Ive tried a variety of different paints and degreased with fairy/window cleaner/electrical cleaner(alcohol) first but no luck

any suggestions on what i should be doing to prep a chip first?
thanks

Re: Touch up paint doesnt seem to stick

There must still be a trace of wax around the area. Using T-cut will remove all traces.

Re: Touch up paint doesnt seem to stick

As PG says, the ammonia, plus the mild abrasive in T cut, should give it a chance to key itself to the existing finish.:

Re: Touch up paint doesnt seem to stick

If you have any carburretor cleaner (or brake disc cleaner) that'll dissolve any residue in the chip.

It may also dissolve the paint.. so go easy with it.
