what to use on unpolished paint ?

I have bought my black 166 few weeks ago and i have just noticed that the paint work is unpolished - it feels scratchy and rough. So it looks that its been repainted and somebody forgot to polish it after?

What can use to make it like silk again ?
Still i got bottle of G3 will it be any use ?

It could be needing a claying if it's an older car,it's surprising how much it will take off.If it's still rough then you may have to wet sand it (don't reckon I'd do this) or try a fine compound polish like 3M or such like.
Your G3 may do the job if it's not too far out of date but my first job would be to clay her and then take it from there.

Re: what to use on unpolished paint ?

Agree with above !

use clay + lube and clay whole car (light pressure) and you will free the roughness and then it will after a few passes start to free like glass , claying should only take an hour.

Claying will restore the glass smooth feel and remove contaminants that polish etc.. cannot.

Then once Clayed wash again to remove any residue and then your free to protect the paintwork.

If you want a quick job just apply a good quaility wax like Collinite 476, this is a good wax for durability which falls into line with you wanting a quick job as no doubt you don't want to be waxing it every few weeks ?

if you want to go the whole hog ?

paint cleaner/polish
Glaze
filler polish to mask the swirls (Auto glym Super resin polish is good for this)
then sealant jetseal or carlack LLs x2 coats
then LSP wax top coat x2 coats !

if you go the whole hog it is a long day but the bodywork will retain its smooth feel for months and wash a lot easier and dry (sheet water) meaning less to dry once washed.

or a machine correction ?

good luck with it ! post some before and after pics !

Won't the polish remove the glaze? I though glaze went on after polish?

Re: what to use on unpolished paint ?

as an x professional paint sprayer, if it's been repainted and it has dust particles in the surface you need to deal with it using some professional equipment and products
3m ultra fine da sanding discs to remove the dirt inclusions, sand it matt flatt
3m trizact discs then this removes the scratches and ensures that when when you polish it you end up with a mirror finish,
G3 by farecla is brilliant used with an electric buffing machine
3m finishing glaze with a matching mop head is certainly the product to remove swirls etc
Then loads of TLC and a good body wax regularly, oh sorry lets get back to the car!!!
there is a good few hours work to do the whole car dut it's worth it when you are done.
