ever wanted a gleaming engine cover?

without paying big bucks.

I discovered the answer today...Cilit Bang. I'm serious!

I used it to clean the BBQ the other day and was amazed. Had the engine cover off today while I was changing the spark plugs on my TS and had a brain wave.

It worked a treat. literally sprayed it on, quick scrub with a washing up brush (don't tell the mrs) rinse with the hose and it's back to showroom. dried it off (helped along by mrs IKs hairdryer) and its good to go!

It's just like the advert!

Will have a go on my barchetta this weekend..is your TS cover plastic like the one on my 147?
The FIAT one is alloy, very tarnished. Some owners spray them red or black but I think that's a bit too much really.

Been thinking of getting mine powder coated and its not really that expensive and should look

Tried to clean it up but no joy really. Will give the cillit bang a go first though

Re: ever wanted a gleaming engine cover?

A word of warning, this stuff stinks so use in a well vented area. Really gets on my chest, and make sure you wear some marigolds too.

Re: ever wanted a gleaming engine cover?

just a quick phone pic. it's the plastic phase II cover.

If I knew how good it was going to be I'd have done a 'before' shot! it was absolutely filthy, ten years of muck on there.

literally 3mins work while the kettle was boiling. You've got to wonder what they put in that stuff. I'm half expecting to come back tomorrow and find it's melted the cover.

Waw!, Need to go get me some
I was sure you'd come back and say 'It's the Alloy cover'. I thought I'd destroy my plastic JTS one. But, hats off to you IK, that looks

Re: ever wanted a gleaming engine cover?

You know the advert where they place the coin in the stuff and it cleans all the dirt off it. I have actually done that and it works exactly like on the advert. Its very powerful stuff.

Might have to give it a try on the GT today.

A guy I used to work with used WD40 to clean the black plastic on his motorbike, which works well.
Trouble is he got it on the brake discs. First time out he went through a hedge.

This is the same guy who filled his Zippo very carefully with four star straight out of the petrol pump

Re: ever wanted a gleaming engine cover?

Degreaser does the trick. Spray on, hose off. Takes 20 seconds.
