I used dirty clay....

Not asking for advice as such... Perhaps some sympathy, perhaps a telling off...

I used dirty clay.

It looked OK... It looked like it was barely broken in, certainly good enough for another round of dirt removal... Went about my claying with the usual gusto and liberal application of a water-spray to help lubricate (Bilt Hamber Autoclay)...

It wasn't until I was toweling off the second rinse wash and the sun had descended in the sky that I saw what I had done

Marring and light damage to the clear-coat all over, in short straight lines exactly in the pattern that I was claying

I waxed over it anyway as the hour was late... But now I know I need to beak out the DAS6 and sort it all out...

Lesson learned - never EVER re-use clay, even if it looks good to go again!

BH clay can mar the paint on some cars, I find it useful to warm up the clay in some (relatively) warm water. I now tend to use a clay cloth which are nearly as good but can be cleaned. Just dig out your machine and it should not take long to remove the marks
