Sad day

As in the title, sad day for me as the ďBlue WitchĒ as the wife likes to call it has been written off .
It doesnít look to bad in the picture, however the suspension took a large whack and bent the subframe, wishbone and the wheel was pushed into the arch causing deformation of the inner wing .
Iím gutted to be honest, nobody was hurt apart from me (whacked elbow and dented pride) Iíve put so much into the car and there is a big empty space on my drive.
Luckily the car was on an agreed value policy and they paid out with no issues, Iím not buying back the salvage as I know what it would take to make it drive straight again and I donít have the will or the facilities anymore.
When i stop sulking i will gather together all the spares i have squirrelled away and offer them to you guys on here.
Off the top of my head there is :
BCA Carbon filter.
Perfect working ashtray (Rare as hens)
Throttle body.
2 MAF Sensors
6 Injectors
6 Ignition coils
Front Brembo calliper
Inlet runner rubber gaskets
Bluetooth multimedia Pioneer radio/cd /usb
Two ancillary covers (the ones that cover the washer bottle and electrical relays)
Probably loads more but thatís what i can think of for now, price wise have a look on eBay and knock off 20% and first come first served .
If you donít already know it was a V6 phase two.
Bloody image is upside down, to be honest that just about sums up how i feel ,Bugger !

Is the salvage available? How much did they want for it? It would be a shame for it to go to a generic breaker as a lot of the sought after parts won't be properly salvaged.
Matt GTV, cgc and Adrian_Bravo like this.

A real shame that.. apart from the obvious it looked to be a well looked after example... I had to chuckle at the "the Blue witch" my Mrs calls mine "the Blue" and won't go near it.. thinks it has a mind of its own

GTV V6 3.0l

Yes it is a shame, i put a lot of time money and effort into the car.
It was almost completely sorted, rebuilt suspension, brakes, detailed engine etc. The Quaffe diff, GTA flywheel, clutch and exhaust was over £2000, to be honest in the cold light of day i bet i spent £7000 over the past three or four years on bringing her up to par.
The insurance company have been a bit quick of the mark in settling as a write off, I haven’t even agreed on this (cheque appeared this weekend in the post) . I’m going to contact them on Tuesday to ask a about salvage and why they haven’t asked me what i want to do, Lancaster Insurance tout themselves as classic specialists and say they understand our dilemma when the worst happens however they are just a broker and you end up with the same service as a regular “joe”
The reason I’m selling up the spares is that i cant physically go through the process of semi restoring a GTV again as i have a degenerative condition that will only get worse and crawling under cars is going to be impractical and damn painful .
Regarding the spares, sorry guys i wrote my post when I’d had a few and was feeling sorry for myself, so to answer some questions.
All the spares are used however most have very little mileage on them and are genuine Alfa or Bosch parts .
As soon as i can i will put together a proper list detailing what i have and price and condition.
On a personal note I’d like to say a big thank you to all the members on here who have provided invaluable advice and some well placed sarcasm when needed over the past seven years.

Best wishes.

If youíre going to break it, I definitely want the RHS plastic bit covering the washer bottle. Mine is broken:

That said, I would have thought that with a payout from the insurance company, that is repairable.

I’ve had a good rummage and have come up with a parts list, to be honest I’ve lost track of who’s asked for what so it’s the usual first dibs.
For the members who have been asking about salvage, I will know more next week once I’ve had a chat with the insurance company.
I will post up any new info If I decide to buy back the car, need to consider my options .
All items are used unless stated, I have added a rough age and mileage of the parts where necessary.
The coils, MAF sensors, and Throttle body were all changed chasing the usual erratic idle., the fault was eventually and very expensively traced to a combination of a poor seal on the throttle body and inconsistent fuel pressure.
Regarding the MAF sensors, they are genuine Alfa/Bosch parts and the one in the Bosch box has about 1500 miles on it.
All the items inclusive of P&P, sorry UK only unless you contact me first.

6 Ignition coils £40. SOLD Philcrazy
50,000 KM estimated were all producing a good spark when removed.

inlet runner gaskets £20
80,000 Miles (No splits or deformation)

Silver ash tray £25 SOLD CGC
It took me three years to find a working silver phase two ashtray, the mechanism is very fragile.

Throttle body £25 SOLD Philcrazy
Mileage unknown, however it worked perfectly on my car, a good spare and is useful for ruling out idle issues.

Stabiliser bar top mount £10
There several types of dog bone for the V6, this didn’t fit mine as it’s the equal diameter size on both apertures type.

Brembo brake caliper £20
80,000 miles. Comes with a new rebuild seal kit, the thread needs tapping on the inlet as it snapped off. Not sure if its NSF or OSF.

puddle light £5
One of each, could be puddle lights or footwell lights, not sure!

spark plug seals £6
500 miles, don’t ask!

spare wheel/jack holder £5 SOLD Nigel
Might be useful to someone.

Under engine air filter shield £10
I found that these splits easily and are quite often damaged, bought as a spare.

Header tank £30 SOLD to Steve
Was brand new last year I think, ever tried cleaning your old one?

MAF x 2 £40 SOLD (Maybe one left, waiting to here from CGC)
The Bosch one maybe 1,500 miles the other came with the car so can’t say, however they both work exactly the same. I think the previous owner had tried to cure the erratic idle and had a new MAF fitted and kept the old one.

BMC CDA Carbon Air Filter £70 SOLD CGC
3,000 miles at most, doesn’t need oiling or cleaning, enhances intake noise and looks nice but doesn’t improve performance much. A very expensive trinket but it makes a good sound!

Engine/Headlight covers £25 for the set Sold to Steve
Bought new when I detailed the engine last year, a couple of scratches but a decent set.

JVC KD-R711 CD MP3 Radio Tuner Receiver Front Aux Input Bluetooth £25 SOLD Nigel
A good replacement for the crap Alfa head unit, has all the usual modern facilities, MP3-USB-Hands Free-Bluetooth etc. The plastic fitting kit is bit loose but it all works fine and comes boxed with the manual and ISO lead and a remote if I can find it.

Vela blue car mat set £20 SOLD Philcrazy
These were custom made and are superior to the Alfa original ones, around 3,000 miles on them but they are in excellent condition and will be steam cleaned before despatch.
