Hi,
Any tips or tricks on how to fix my odometer. Ive attached two images of how it looks at present. I have an impending MOT/NCT test and this will cause me to fail. Please help.
Thanks,
If you look at the NTC manual it only talks about the odometer reading being taken when an odometer is fitted but there isn't an odometer rule which they can fail you on.
Below is what the NCT Manual says. Rang them and the lady checked with the senior tester who said they will record 00000 but wont fail me.
Took her name in full as I'm not so confident. :tank:
Going to try and remove and reconnect in case that works as suggested by another responder.
The NCT tester must record the odometer reading at the time
of the test where an odometer is fitted. When the test report
or pass statement is being presented to the owner or the
presenter of the vehicle, the NCT tester shall point out the
odometer reading. The owner or the presenter of the vehicle
must verify that the odometer reading is correct, and if not
shall immediately advise the NCT Tester as there will be no
opportunity to change the reading at a later stage.
If resetting the connector does not work, just replace the LCD display- the numbers are stored on a chip on the main speedo/ rev counter circuit board, so will not change
The ECU is usually miles out for some reason. Last time I connected up MES it said well over 200k miles. This is on a phase 1 with the Speedo driven off the gearbox tho.
On phase 1 at least the Speedo and odometer are driven by a sensor on the gearbox. The ECU gets its info from the ABS system. I've checked the mileage on the ECU a couple of times and it has always recorded more miles than the odometer. Of course it could be a fault with the code in MES.
I know this is an old thread.... but my odometer LCD on my 2004 JTS 2.0 Spider has finally died after steadily losing pixels over a few years.
Rich_wookey - you mentioned you might be able to supply a replacement lcd - is that a possibililty please?
If you're on facebook there is a couple of people that have some lcds available in the "alfa romeo gtv/spider technical forum" group. I recently got one posted to me and fitted it after having the same issue, problem all solved now.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
