Only a week to go now before the GTA goes in for paint with - https://www.alphapaintsltd.co.uk/ - So I thought I'd start a thread to track it through its progress with Paul and the paint shop. It will feel like a very long 4 or 5 weeks but worth it and it will be much cheaper to do it now rather than later. It will be keeping its 846/A Nero Metallico which we hope to bring back to it's former glory. The majority of the paintwork is in really good condition for it's age but the usual GTA rot spots are starting to show themselves, arches, wings and roof as well as the infamous grilles. Here's a few pics at she stands now along with the box of bits to help the resto along the way.

Wish me luck

Good to hear, looks great (y) Surprises me at the moment how salty the roads are, even after all the rain and snow we've had. I can see why you would keep it off the road till spring ;)

Feels like a long time but the GTA is back with its dent fixed. Paul's guys have done a very good job again :). However, it wouldn't be an Alfa story if after solving one problem you have another. On the way back the car threw up a low brake fluid warning. Sure enough, the reservoir was almost dry, slightly unnerving but Paul did mention that he saw a bit of brake fluid weeping and that a little puddle had formed on the paint shop floor. Possibly coming from the slave cylinder. Oh well...

If its just a minor leak through the piston seal it might be alright til you're back up here at the end of the month, top it up and give the clutch a few pumps. Obviously if it completely fails though, you'll have no clutch. I've seen loads come in over the years with leaking slave cylinders and the owner otherwise oblivious.

Ta. I'll keep a close eye. I suppose with it being sat around for a few weeks won't have helped (y)

Well it's having a rather large service soon so I can add it to the list :). I might be bankrupt at the end but it'll get done ?

Another holy thread revival :).

On Saturday, the GTA will go back to Paul's for a lick of paint. It's by no means a disaster but a few areas are looking a touch scabrous after daily use... wish me luck.

Some post paint images, not great I know but the one day that we don't have rain and the car is covered in grit. The key thing is, no brown crusty bits (y)
