Resetting Service Indicator (I have Nav)

Hi, I have just had a service and they forgot to reset service indicator. I have the flip up NAV. Is there a way I can reset it. I tried OBD connection but I think my phone software is a bit limited.

I can take it back to the garage but if I can do it myself then that would be easier.

Thanks

Martin

And whatever you do don't keep retrying to reset several times to make sure. Otherwise you use up the 'vouchers' and then you won't get the countdown miles to next service. Ask me how I know that!

The 'paid for' MultiEcuScan can reinstate them but I don't have that version.

Where in Oxfordshire are you located Harold?

I have a cable set here if you want to come here and reset your light.

I'm in Witney.

Thank you, that's very kind of you. I'm now in Warwickshire near Stratford. I've ordered some correct (hopefully) cables since I want to reset the service in the future as well. I'm happy for my local garage to do the regular servicing but I supply the oil from Opie but they can't reset the service lights.

I've also got a flashing odometer from a previous fault when the entire infotainment system / sat nav failed. I'm hoping I can fix this so it doesn't flash any more. It still clocks up the miles but always flashes.

Update.

I've managed to stop the flashing odometer using the yellow lead and the ELM thingy.

Setting the last service date is really buggy. it keeps jumping to 21 / 22/ 2019 There is no month 22. I have now managed to set it to 10 / 08 / 2019 but if I try and set the 19th day it goes back to weird stuff like month 22

I've set the service interval (this is in km) so, I set it at 16,000. I've played around with the coupons from zero to 9. But finally, trying reset the service interval, it always fails to execute. So, my oil change light still flashes.

I can scan and do a load of adjustments, so, clearly I'm connecting with the Siemens unit in the car but it is impossible to reset the service interval.

To be honest, the entire process is like playing with a 1980's Amstrad computer. Yes, the days before Windows and Microsoft. Amazing.

Update. I've now reset the oil change in the Engine section of the Multiecuscan. Still no way of re setting the service reset. And the "date since last service" has gone bonkers again. Also, the car battery suddenly went dead and no waiting to see if a charge up will get the car started as the OBD (?) error plus a load of other errors are showing.

I wish I hadn't bothered with any of this and just put a sticker over the flashing service light. To think I've successfully totally rebuilt two Alfas, engines, g/boxes etc without a hitch but when it comes to plugging in a computer I may as well be trying to service the international space station.

Final update. I charged the battery and all is well apart from the engine management light on and no way to get Dynamic mode. I plugger in the ELM and went to the Engine diagnostics and cleared all the errors. And.... the service reset oil light has gone out.

A few notes from my memory.

1. after an oil change, go to the the Engine diagnostics first and select your Bosch unit. You can scan first to see which is on your car. You DON'T need the Yellow lead for this. When you are in the Engine diagnostics, re set the oil change.

2. Unplug the ELM lead from the socket under the dash and reconnect using the Yellow lead and the Elm. Then connect and select Service. Go through all of the options and finally do the Service Reset. This on my car said Failed To Execute and I tried many time and gave up but did manage to flatten the car battery. I then went back to the Engine Diagnostics without the Yellow lead and cleared engine errors.

After this the service lights went out even though I only ever had a Failed to Execute when resetting the service interval.

To be honest, it may be a better experience if you have a brand new Windows laptop. The entire process was hit and miss as the MES kept disconnecting which then crashed the programme.

I hope I can remember what to do in 10,000 miles when I will have to do it all again.
