Cold morning starts!

Morning guys, just wandering if anybody else has experienced any issues this morning with their car. Mines a 2.0 tct diesel and cut out on me on a roundabout. I’m thinking it’s the cold temperatures and an old battery. After five minutes it restarted and I was away but now have a check engine warning light, however the car drives fine.

Any info would be much appreciated!

Mine sods about sometimes, fixed it by making sure the battery was fully charged. The TCT on mine has messed about a couple of times but only when really cold, When I switch it off then restart its fine.

1. Check the dtcs.

2. Were you prevented from restarting for 5 minutes?

As above, get the code(s). Then you'll have a point from which to investigate the problem.

Yes, not exactly five minutes but I was unable to restart the engine. The engine management came on.

I’ve now had the battery tested and been told the wear level is spot on. However the battery is showing low charge despite the fact I do a half hour to hour commute every day! So potentially something maybe draining the battery overnight. Which looking at other forum posts is a possibility

Same with mine, I had however had the ignition on whilst changing the radio etc and also I think my dashcam might of drained it a bit, the stop start stopped also, the Battery specialist shop near me said the battery condition was good but it needed a full charge.
I bought a new charger and topped it, up, all ok now including the stop start (which I turn off anyway).

Sounds very similar then! What battery charger did you buy? I’m going to try that too!

On the plus side my car is now five years old and 70,000 miles done and still on the same battery.

I was sort of on a 50 -60 quid budget but then after reading all the reviews including Auto Express I bought this-

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Battery-C...72.m2749.l2649
I've used it twice now and its been great.
