Does anyone else have this problem with the dashboard?

I've got a RHD 2010 model and I can't see any bulges like your picture. As your car is newer I can't say if it's right or wrong, has it always been this way or just become noticeable recently? Hopefully someone with the same model year will confirm this?

Strange thing to bear in mind, as I understand it airbags are pyrotechnical devices, ie fireworks, they do not have stored gas at pressure in a reservoir so there can not be a partial escape of gas that might cause this situation. Maybe Alfa redesigned the dash to improve the deployment. By the way what Jahrebauzeit haben sie? that was for the OP and you if you are where you say you are?

You can see the outline where the airbag is on ours, but it certainly doesn't bulge.

Maybe it is a warmer climate thing?

It's a 2012 model. The left picture is from an Italian forum, the right one is mine. I only saw the outline of the airbag before, I think it's getting really slowly worse.
I've found that other makes and models (Fiat Bravo, 500, Mazda RX-8, Mercedes, etc.) can also have this problem, mainly in countries with hot climate.
Here's a comment from Fiatt 500 owner from Israel:
Eventually, I started looking at Fiat's for sale online, looked at pictures, and on alot of the cars, the dashboard was inflated.
"I also started looking into Fiat's while walking the street, and I could barely find 1 Fiat that *DIDN'T* have a cracked or inflated dashboard.
I started looking at other cars made by Fiat, such as Alfa Romeo.
By now I wasn't surprised to see that in the Giulietta the dashboard was inflated as well.
Its important to mention that all the cars that I saw that had inflated or cracked dashboards were 2 years old and older, so my guess is that this issue is age related."

Of course, it's only cosmetic (the thin plastic above the airbag deforms easily), but still annoying.
The only solution is to replace the dashboard, or remove it and wrap in leather.

It is indeed a known problem at the warmer climate areas. In Israel it is quite common. When parking at the sun I always use sun shade, and if possible, leave the windows slightly open. It inflates more and more, until it breaks.

Usually it happens after the warrantee ended. Sometimes the dealer replace it, sometimes you have to pay...

I have a 2012 Giulietta and two days ago, when I entered the car, I noticed the same bubble on the dashboard! It’s exactly the same as your photo! Why would it be so perfectly contoured, it’s a perfect bubble, the same shape as yours. And now? Will it get worst, explode or something? Will it crack open?

The area of the air bag on the dashboard is scored by laser. Let's say it is weakened specifically so that the airbag can come out. I think the laser scoring process has some problems.

My car is 2011 MultiAir. I have showed the problem to the alfa dealer service. They said they can pay only for the 40% of the dashboard if i would like to change. I believe this is a production fault of Alfa Romeo. I am planning on taking this problem to the court.

The car is eight years old.
Labour costs will probably be as much as they’re offering to contribute?

They are asking a total of USD 1.500 for the replacement, including the pary price and labour.

It is really a lot. I will ask a lawyer about this.
